GMT II Bezel no longer turns

Anyone have any idea what may be causing this? Also how about some recommendations as to where to take this in the Orlando area? I know that Mayors at the Altamonte Mall has their own guy but if there is an independant that knows his/her stuff I would rather do that.

Thanks

I'm sure you got it fixed by now, but this is really common on a GMT when the bezel's used frequently. Mine's done it twice already.

There's a clickspring with a little hook bend on the end, which is what locks into the teeth on the underside of the bezel. With use, it can wear off, or snap, locking the mechanism.

The bezel pops off with a little underside pressure at the 7 o'clock, just above the lug. I use a thin knife blade now - it's nerve wracking the first few times, but old hat now. Once you have it off, you'll see the problem.

Putting it back together is as simple as aligning the spring, centering the thin washer that's on there too, and a little downward pressure until the bezel 'clicks' back in.

Sounds like a case of the schmutz. De-schmutzification involves removal of the bezel, cleanng of the affected areas and re-assembly with a but of WD-40, which will evaporate soon enough and not be a dust/debris grabber.
