233 or 390?

A friend is offering me to trade his brand new 390 for my 233. He will top up a bit.. Regardless of topping up, do you guys think the 390 is something to go for?

What would I do? Keep the 233 no doubt. Either wait until 390 prices come down and pick it up or go base now, but I wouldn't lose the 233 to get a 390 now.

Unless he's willing to top up to the tune of at least $4K in US dollars, I wouldn't.

I would trade the 233 for a 372 in a heartbeat though.

Yeah, I'd wait for the 390 to come down. If it was an in-house movement, that's a different story all together.

I MUCH prefer the 390 personally. Used to love the 233 but the fang really bothers me now. Another thread that surprises me a bit. It seems that the 233 is coming back in popularity as it does from time to time.

233 ofcourse

The other post about 372 and 233 was close but I would pick the 372

In this case ?
The 390 is nice but the most cheap thing you can get

A simple ETA with 2 hands, compared to an inhouse GMT 8 DAYS !!!!

You can't be serious when you answer the 390

Well, the 390 is very attractive in its design.. And I really fancy it.. Aside from the movement that is.. Im very certain that the 233 is very much superior in movement department. If design was the only question, would you still pick the 233?

I would. 1950 case + domed sapphire wins out over a Bettarini case, brown dial, and gold hands for me. Don't get me wrong, I really like the 390, just like the 233 more. This does not take into account price, movement, or LE/SE status of course.

You do realise that the 390 cost about $5200 right?

MSRP is $5100

Street Market 'crack' value is round'ish mid to high 6's, plus he said his friend would add the extra coinage.

Plus with Norman's 232 and 249, that 390 would fit right in!
