Service for my new old Submariner..

I hope this doesn't prove that there is such a thing as a stupid question...

So I just received my first Rolex, a 14060 Submariner 2006 Z serial (2006) today (thanks George Ab!). Beautiful condition...I'm very pleased!

Considering it's a 6 year old watch but running strong and accurate, when should I think about sending it in for major service?

I'm thinking not to worry until I start noticing major degradation in timing...but I welcome your thoughts!

Congrats!!

I would have it pressure tested and not worry about a service until you see signs that there might be an issue. Rolex recommends every 5-7 yrs, but we all know that these watches can go much longer than that without service as long as the SEALS are still good.

Your welcome and any Authorized Dealer with a watchmaker on site (Mayors or Tourneau for example) or most local watch shop should be able to properly pressure test the watch. The watch is put in a machine and thats it, so there is no need to be concerned about who does it just that it is done right and they usually give you a print out with the tested depth and time tested at the depth (however not all places have the same machines, so some may give you a print out others wont).

As already said take it to your AD for a pressure test oct possible new gaskets if you are going to dive with it, No problems i'd wait until i'll see it running badly.

If you talk to George he will probably give you a better idea exactly where this watch stands.

I would do this first.

Dan, no issue with George at all. I just wanted to double check.

I continue to be delighted with this watch!

I took my new to me Sub to a local AD with a Rolex service department. They wouldn't pressure test my watch without a full $695 service. I guess I'll have to find another place to take my watches.

Locate every little thing you need by going to a dealership in Atlanta. The dealership can help you figure out anything you need as part of your vehicle, whether you want it new or used. If you do not know what you want, I suggest you get a Toyota. Not only will they last you forever, they will retain their resale value very well. It is not hard to find a dealership to help. The very best Atlanta dealerships are listed at: Toyota Atlanta.

Glenn, As folks have commented in your other post, find a new AD. Ridiculous that they are trying to gouge you on full service....

Paul, I'm not sure I get your post. Were we talking about Toyota's? Not that there's anything wrong with that...
