If you wear daily, do you still wind?

I always figured if I wore daily, I wouldn’t need to wind. I even sleep with my watch on typically. What’s the school of thought here? I remember speaking to Panerai Concierge once, and they told me I should still wind it?

I do, but I think this is more because it's one of the joys of a mechanical watch than necessity.

Nope, never in my decades of wearing automatic movements.

I suppose theoretically, if one were quite sedentary and the movement was rather inefficient, one might still need to wind occasionally?

It's best to wind your automatic watch every day, even if you wear it.

If you wear it daily, your movement should keep it wound, but giving it a manual wind every now and then helps keep the mainspring tension balanced...

Some brands, like Panerai, recommend occasional winding for optimal performance. It’s not a must, but it can help with consistency!

An automatic watch that is always worn should not be wound manually.
Manual winding makes the automatic gears turn much faster, risking wearing them out sooner. (IMHO)

I dont wind it, it is an automatic.

But I wind it when I wanted to adjust it after not wearing it.

For me it is something special when adjusting watch, different mechanism, different types of adjusting, adjucsting the complications. I enjoy.

I wind all of my panerai but they are all manual wind. I wind an automatic when I first put it on after not having worn it for a while and then not again unless it looses the charge.

I have a 3-watch rotation, my Panerai, Sub-C, and Exp II. I don't keep them on a winder when not in use. When I switch watches, I wear it for a couple hours to build up some power reserve and then I set it. Never had a problem. I switch about every 2 weeks.
