Do you get more enjoyment from your car or watch?

For me, nothing beats a car.

you?

Car, well SUV. Black on black Range Rover Sport. Rides amazing and is an absolute beast. Have always thought it is the best looking ride on the road.

Car for me too. Main car is currently a BMW M850i Coupe. All the power and all the smoothness I need rolled into a beautiful body. (Although after driving this one I would like an M8!)

I’ve got many incredible watches that I love wearing.
However, I drive a 2025 MB 580S. Tough to beat.
An older friend of mine told me once,
“A gentleman should have a great wife, excellent timepiece and a wonderful car”.
I won the lottery then.

Car hands down. DBS Supperleggera and C63 Black Series.

A watch compliments a nice car but can’t replicate/replace it.

That’s a hard one but I would say the watch because it’s more personal and always on me.

Thanks a lot! I fairly recently traded my M4 for it, and while it's a very different driving experience - way more refined-feeling, which seems to mask it's actual speed somewhat (until you look at the speedo!) - it's equally impressive.

I don't blame you with the new 7. It's an absolute monster, and the interior is something else. They had one in my local dealership a few weeks ago and I had a good poke around it. Incredible piece of kit, but it'd be an absolute beast to manoeuvre on the UK roads!

Cars mean nothing to me. Personal transportation from point A to B.

Watches on the other hand...

If you’d asked me 20 years ago or maybe even 10 years ago, I’d have said my car. I previously loved an E46 M3 and a 911. But it got to the point I was only driving at weekends and spent most of that time jammed in traffic.

These days I sit in traffic in a full on dad car - 320 estate. I just don’t see the point in great cars any more when they can’t be enjoyed. Plus most modern cars are fairly soulless. I do get to enjoy old school mechanical watches every day now though!

I view the car and timepiece as one package. Like a fine wine paired with a steak. Certainly can enjoy them separately, but when the two come together, 1+1=3!

I drive a Toyota Tacoma and care nothing for "high end" or "luxury" vehicles, all I need is a dependable, decent-looking ride that I can rely upon to get me from point A to point B. Watches are the only thing in which I really indulge in the "nicer things" in life.

Watches come first then cars,,,

Generally a nice high end car will stay 5 - 8 years but watches are in for a life time. A watch will always be with you, and one day you will give it to your child and it will continue to live on.

I enjoy watches more for one simple reason. What happens to my watch is largely within my control. I love owning nice cars, but every time you leave the house all it takes is one clueless dummy on a cell phone, or one hail storm and your beautiful car is ruined.

Obviously insurance offsets any real financial risk in both cases, but cars feel temporary and watches feel timeless:)

I’m definitely more passionate about watches. I could probably afford a mid tier luxury car (say around $85kish), but I choose to drive a F150. I just don’t drive enough to really merit the benefits of a really nice car.

I do sometimes long for a nice new M2 or used Cayman in the garage as a second vehicle, and who knows? Maybe someday, I’ll just do it. Not yet though.

I get a small amount of enjoyment from watches all throughout the day and week
I get a large amount of enjoyment from my car (Carrera T), but less frequently

So, from an area-under-the-curve perspective, I get equal enjoyment from both!

(that's about all I remember from calculus, by the way)

I just recently purchased a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I am brand loyal to the Jeep name. This Jeep has 145000 miles and is in nice condition considering it is 10 years old. It is the nicest, most refined vehicle I've ever owned. But it was bought to get me back and forth to work and running about during the week.

So, watches.

Do you get more enjoyment from your car or watch?

It depends. When I was driving M cars, I got as much enjoyment from my cars. But I’m driving around in a 540 now. More luxurious and less exciting. Plus, It’s five years old now. My next car could change things …

Cars

I'm a car guy first and foremost. The watches are a 2nd hobby. 2025 Tundra 1794 is my daily, and fun weekend car is this one:

I’ve always loved motor vehicles—but they come and go—watches have a way of sticking around. I bought my first Rolex, a Submariner, 40+ years ago, and I still have it. I picked it up brand new at a discounted price: just $880.

Absolutely! I love my cars and I love my watches. My two favorite material possessions to collect and enjoy.

Don't own a car. If I did, I probably wouldn't get a nice one (NYC, what for? To sit in traffic and worry about damages?) so the watch would still be more enjoyable.

To be fair, I've never been a car guy
