need your opinion

Hi
I have sky dweller rose gold on leather strap, and I consider to replace it for the new DD40 platinum and than I need add 15k$
What do you think? It's will be good move?
A lot of peoples tell me that the platinum is on my mind and it's not good move to pay a lot of money for white metal…
A lot of people tell me that the sky on leather very speicel …
What you vote? DD40 platinum or sky?

In my opinion, plus 10 k is more palatable. Tough decision, but I do prefer the platinum DD40.

As a platinum owner I can tell you there is no equal. It flies under the radar yet people who know watches will know what it is. And the weight is phenomenal. And it is harder than gold.

I'm not fond of Rose Gold.

But I would take a Sky Dweller over a DD any day of the week.

the horology of the sky dweller wins over the DD, c'mon.

but, if youre' more into things that are sparkly, go with the bling DD40.

My opinion would be to wait until the hype of the DD40 settles down a bit, so you don't lose your shirt on that trade. Plus gives you a little time to cool off and think about it.

Another alternative would be to flip for the SKD on bracelet, which would get you a little closer when and if you're ready to flip...and be spectacular.

Hello everybody,
I am new here , Just joined the forum ;)))))

To me, you should stick with your sky-Dweller. It is much more impressive and technical that the DD platinum. And you should considered the weight of the Platinum. I tried it once and it is extremely heavy on the wrist.

Well I'm falling hard for RG nowadays and my next is hopefully a RG on strap so I quite like the SkyD too, but hard to turn down a plat DD40, esp the criss cross dial, so long as the price is right.

The DD40 does have the new movement which is good in the horology department though

The Sky Dweller is growing on me however the DD is a classic. I'd invest in that piece.

Why?
The retail price of the plat is 21k more than the sky, and my sky now not new, it's pre owend …
I'll purchase my sky for 26k and get now 25k, and the plat the retail is 60k and I get it for 40k…

I love rose gold.

I love annual calendars.

I love rolex day dates.

Conundrum....

I would enjoy the SkyD for another year or two and would wait until the prices of the 40mm DD come down. My 2 cents.

I think quite different pieces, need to go with your heart, getting an exact figure on changeover is hard one is a new watch and the other while relatively new has not been great in the second hand market.

Of all the Rolex watches I have owned, I kept my Sky-Dweller and Day-Date. I really enjoy both. I, like you, have been smitten with the Platinum Day Date.

You are at the top of the Rolex tree with either of those models, you just need to decide which branch to swing on.

I'd hang with the RG Sky Dweller.

Sky Dweller to me belongs on bracelet...So I would do that trade in a heartbeat.

Platinum DD40 is beautiful on the wrist - I don't think you'll regret that trade...

White Gold Sky Dweller vs Platinum DD40 would pull me in too many directions and would be a tough choice.

The Sky Dweller is going to become a rarer watch IMHO and therefore much more collectible than the DD in the future. Moreover, 15K to add is way too much. I will probably invest in a RG bracelet for the SKYD (is it possible to add one on a leather watch? I don't even know, actually).

I prefer the day-date, but would be content with owning either. I like the idea of waiting for the DD40 hype to die down a bit so you get a better deal.

I have tried the SkyDweller RG and I didn't like it one bit, it felt too large and heavy to be on a strap, I might like it on a bracelet though since it is a very nice looking watch.

The new DD40 is imo an even nicer looking watch, especially the platinum one with the glacier blue dial.
