Grand Seiko QUARTZ Owners

How do you like your watches? Can they take a beating or two? Are they as accurate as claimed? I've been donning some quartz lately and I like the accuracy. Where do you get the batteries changed? Thank you.

I used to own one (I sold it because it was too dressy for me). Its accuracy was about - 8 sec / year and the battery can be changed by anyone (unless it's a diver because of course you need to have the watch pressure tested).

It is the most accurate watch I own by far, it is off by about half a second a month. I haven't looked into changing the battery as I have only had it just under a year. I wouldn't recommend it as a watch that would take a "beating."

I started looking at Grand Seiko quartz too. I think it would be nice to have a watch you just don't have to worry about regarding setting the time. And considering how special the quartz movement is on these, it's not like buying any other quartz. I think the movement is special and probably a great value considering these can be found for the price of like the most entry level swiss mechanical movement.

My main concern, is I haven't worn a watch with a ticking second hand since like high school, and I'm wondering if that would at all bug me, haha.

I must admit that I thought that I might be the same, quite the opposite has happened in fact. It is quite satisfying watching the precision of the second hand on the beautiful dial. That is something I wouldn't have ever imagined I would say about a year ago.

I recently purchased an SBGX061 and I LOVE it. Again, like one other poster mentioned, I don't know if I would consider this a watch that can take a beating. I mean - I'm sure it can, but the finishing is so well done that it feels wrong to treat it as a beater.

In the two weeks I've had it, it's been running dead on +/-0. I used to check the time based on my computer's clock - but recently had to switch to using time.gov ... because the watch has been keeping more accurate time than my computer's clock. I've never had a watch in the past where that's been the case.

I haven't had to have the battery changed yet - of course - but any watchmaker should be able to do it. It's a simple battery swap - the movement itself is sealed so there isn't anything special to it.

Recently sold my GS Quartz, the watch movement can take a beating, but the mirror case finishing on the dress watches scratches and dents quite easily. Accuracy was spot on, never had to change the battery, only had it for 2 years, but I would probably take it to the Seiko Boutique, I live in NYC, so it's no big deal, otherwise I'd likely have a local watch tech change it.

I sold the watch because it got no wrist time, it was somewhat of an impulse buy, and I just prefer to wear my high end Swiss watches.
