5167R - bling or no bling

I'm considering a 5167r and, while I wouldn't wear a full gold watch, I've read some of the comments on this forum and it seems that some 5167r owners to feel differently about 5167r, in that it does not have the bling normally associated with gold watches. Is it still considered a sport watch in gold? I have a 5167a which I'm bonded to, but would consider flipping that for 5164a to complement 5167r. Appreciate any comments.

It is not very blingy at all for a PM, in fact RG can often look SS in outdoor bright light. It is still a sports watch, esp on that tropical strap, and a 5164 and the R sound like a great pair.

i wear my 5131R since a couple of months and no bling effect at all(zero) ,honestly a shiny SS sports attracts more attention than goldwatch (which most ppl assume goldplated) 67R over 67A anytime , go for it

gold watch on a strap is a good move IMO. It tones it down and you have to worry less about scratching up a full gold bracelet and its not blingy at all. As much as i like the look of the 5711/1R and especially the 5980/1R the full gold bracelet would not be good for my ocd. I would get a 64 or 67 R instead personally, and especially so if i didn't want a loud watch.

5164A and 5167R is probably the best combo IMO vs the other way around with a 64 R and 67 A.

I agree a 64A (more practical being a travel time complication) and the 67r being a straight 3 hand dial with a date being a nice dress/smarter watch.

I've just acquired a 5167r and it's still (in my view) quite an easy watch to wear casually - T shirts or shirt sleeves rolled up.

Whilst I really like the 5164r I don't think i'd travel with a RG piece so my GMT functioned pieces are all currently steel.

My only issue with the RG is that for my office I find it too much to wear to work.. infront of other staff and customers. so I don't.

So that's the only reason I eventually plan to add either a steel or WG PP piece.
(in the meantime I'll just stick to the subs and GMT's during the week and the 5167r at the weekends.
