Help on GMT 1675 PCG

Hi

Is anyone able to help me on this GMT 1675 PCG from 1964 - I am thinking of purchasing the watch but unsure of the Condition, Dial, Hands, Bezel.

If somebody could give me an idea of wether it is a good purchase or to stay clear of?

Kind Regards Luke

Dial, hands, and insert are all way later than the case.

Hi David Thanks for the reply, do you think the watch is worth going for or should I stay clear? the Guy is asking £12,000GBP.

Even if I sent the watch in to put new dial hands and bezel it would be worth a similar amount or am I totally wrong?

I thought I would post on the forum as I am fairly new to vintage and need some guidance.

What would you do?

Many Thanks

I have an authentic movement, gilt rail dial and hands for that case. Very frustrating as prices are getting so crazy on these. I've passed on a couple cases that now I wish I hadn't.
But starting that project at 12k would be a big NO for me.
Btw, if you sent it to Rolex it would come back worth about one third that amount.

Thanks for your Guidance on this one. Would you consider selling the dial and hands you have to go with the watch?

I have also been offered another 1966 model PCG in slot better condition with service dial hands that have a nice Panita on them for £10,000 GBP

Would that be a better starting point ?

Luke

The watch in the first photo is a bit "rough around the edges". I would pass esp if you want to send it to RSC. I've seen serviced 1675 with luminova "swiss" dials and hands go for about $6-8K USD.

Thanks Henrylee

I think your totally right I will give that one a miss

What do you think of my second option the 1966 is that a better buy with its new dials hands and also Swiss T25 Panita dial.

If I could buy a set of Gilt hands and Dial I would be almost there!?

A decent gilt dial and small handset (depending on year of said pcg)chapter ring,underline,single/double Swiss etc will cost you in excess of £10k and very hard to find now that’s without the correct insert you’d be better off finding a correct watch to start with

That's a mix bag of goodies that your getting. You're essentially buying a service watch and placing different era hands, dial, and bezels. Are you looking to purchase a watch that has service parts or original parts? It makes a big difference in price. Most collectors are looking for period perfect watches, which usually comes with a hefty price. You would want to preserve the watch as original as you can once purchased.

Might want to talk to springer he has a real nice 1675 for sale. I think it would be about 10,750 GBP

Here is one in the UK. But be careful when purchasing from VRM and not sure if all parts are original to the watch. Best to see it in person.

The 16750 from the UK is a 1675 and looks to be a very nice watch.
