Help me decide!!

OK
I like the 270 and 233
I like parts of each dial more than the other.
I like the 10 day PR and I really like auto movements BUT
I see no point in a 10 day PR in this day and age with winders.

Anyway....

1) Would I be a schmuck to wear a 233 or 270 daily when I am not some suit and tie?

2) I series, does it have the quick change band system? (I was told all 233's do)

3) Would you trade a M DSSD + $1700 for a GREAT shape I 233???

Thanks!

okay - Yes, for me 233. I think it would look great with or without a suit...

Personally - yes, 233 over DSSD. But, that's just me. I think the 233 is an incredible piece and would be one that I think you would stick with for a very long time. Also, I think the pricing on that DSSD + $1700 is pretty good especially for one in good shape.

Not sure on quick change... I will be interested to see what the answer to that question is also.

My vote - Go for it. I don't think you will regret it! Keep the SD?

To my understanding the quick change band system (The double sided pencil utility), started with the J Series (2007) and currently to the K Series (2008).

Yes but Panerai and Paneristi both say it starts on J for models that did not already have it....

The seller told me it has it.

I don't doubt him as he has quite a Panerai collection put just doing the double check.

You know my choice, Buddy!!!

Go for 233!!! I think that's good idea, to flip SDDS for 233.

I have an I series 233, it comes with the quick change strap system, if you get a picture of the watch then you'll see the little plastic quick change tool in the picture (it looks like a pencil that's been sharpened at both ends).

As for the questions:

1 - Nope, i wear my 233 everyday, it's a great watch, not too 'bling' and does the job, so can be worn easily with a suit, or a pair of jeans and a tshirt.

2 - Yes, as above.

3 - I'd go for it, i'm only going by UK prices, but a DSSD is about £2400 less than a 233, so that's about $4000, an I series makes it 2 years old, but we're talking about a watch in mint condition so it's not exactly got any signs of wear and i think the 233's command a decent return in the secondhand market.

Also remember that the 233 is changing this year, they're putting the AM/PM indicator in and i think there's another change, this for me clutters the dial a bit, the 233 is loved because it's got a lot of the Panerai tradition and the dial is quite clear, so the I, J and K series will be the only 233s with this, and should hopefully keep their value due to the changes.

I don't know as I have never seen a DSSD. I'm really curious, but your deal is fair.

As regards to quick change, ALL 233's have the quick change system. It was introduced on this model watch. It is the ONLY I series Panerai that has it. Don't worry, ALL 233's have it.

Good luck on your decision, don't think there is a bad one.

Now I need to start looking into bands.
Anyone with suggestions for people with small wrists let me know!!
