Any problems if an in-house PAM comes without the warranty booklet?

I've got the offer of a 233, but it doesn't come with the warranty booklet that the in-house PAMs come with, is this a problem or can you get a new one?

Are you talking about the COSC information booklet? If that is what you are referring to, then no, you can't get another.

I'm not too sure it is COSC, on the older models you used to get the little COSC leaflet and the warranty card, in the newer in-house models you get a warranty booklet that is filled out with this information instead, so i think it's a case of it becoming both the older bits of paperwork.

So any experts online, i'm really thinking about the swap now as my mate says this booklet is pretty much the entire authentication for the watch now, taking the place of the COSC and warranty card, is this right?

Will it really affect the price if i sell it on, will it cause nightmares at service, etc, etc?

Forgive me if I'm misunderstanding, but the 233 is an in-house PAM movement. It's their first one, the p2002.

It's been ages since I got it or looked at the paperwork, but I recall that mine (summer of 2007 buy) had the COSC paperwork and manuals. I doubt the presence or absence of that will matter. If the watch is legit (pretty easy to tell with a 233) they will service it.

Oops. Are you saying it's gray market not from a dealer?

My 289 came with a warantee booklet. My name is written in the booklet and the COSC data is filled-in i the apropriate collums.

I wouldnt go for a 233 without the booklet.Where is it ??

I would keep the 140 !! ....especially at the price you paid for it .

I really want a 233 though, i guess it's back to the drawing board, my main worry is the problems that occur with the 233 during the warranty period, i know one of my mates had the problem with the power reserve not fully getting to 8 days (about 5 days worth), but without the booklet it's taking a chance

Why can't i ever get a deal with everything included

The 289 is something else !! Since I bought it in March 2008 it has become pretty expensive .I wear it at special ocassions.. I do however, wear the 231 very often.Lovely watch too !!

As for the 18ct mix Panerai uses.... its the nicest gold I have ever seen !!!

And in that sentence is my problem, i bought it as a 'trade or wear' as it was a great deal and i thought it would get me the 233/270 i really wanted at a better trade price, but i also thought i'd wear it as well and i have to say, i haven't worn the thing out the house as it's so nice, since buying it i've noticed i've hit my old watch about 3 times with the seatbelt in the car and each time think about how that would put a scratch on the 140, then again if i keep it like i might now i'll wear it all the time in the knowledge that Panerai do a great service and valet

If the price is right, I think that's OK.

Keep it and save again for the 233? Having both would be a nice collection.

If you know the 233 is the one you want - do the trade - maybe see if Panerai will authenticate?

Might be better to wait for complete 233 - Just MO

I did knock it on the head, back to square one though, looking for a 233 or 270, they seem to be pretty rare in the UK just now!

If you wear it,its very easy to remove scratches from an all polished 18ct gold case.I perefer Wenol Red above Cape cod ~ More effective and less mess. You will be hard pressed to find scratches on my 104 and I wear it often.Thats the advantages of all polished cases, whether in ss or 18ct gold.

If I could find a 140 at the price you paid, there is no way I would sell it !! I would wear it an enjoy it.Its not one to be used as finance for a 270 or 233.Rather keep it and buy a 233 or 270,whenever you can get one in the UK

Hey Ryan, just on a note you might want to check the Series if it would be an I series be a little more on yer guard, as i hear from several people around me that these might have some little "children deseases" the J/K series are pretty sound.. so i have been told as im looking for the same :-) indeed they are scarce in Holland as well at the moment..

It is an I series, but it's been back to Panerai to get the problem fixed, i did know about the problem and made sure to find something that was either newer or had been fixed.

I did think about it, to be honest i know i'll never own another, but i don't have the funds for two watches at these prices, it's a good deal all round, i get a 233 and they get a 140, pricewise, yes i got a great price, but i'm also selling it at a price that's about £2000 cheaper than any other 140, and that was a 2002 E series that will more than likely require a full service by now and only came with the one strap that wasn't even an original!
