Planet Ocean 8900 Price/Discount?

So I recently became smitten with a Planet Ocean after trying one on in person. Just 'works' for me on the wrist, so going to give Omega another try and see what happens. However, I haven't bought anything Omega in 10 years, and wanted to get some input in regards to pricing. The piece I'm interested in is the 215.30.44.21.01.001 basic black dial/steel model. It has a $6550 MSRP but can be found with zero effort for $4500 new at greys. Is it feasible for an AD to offer this as well? I've heard/read of some Omega dealers beating any online price (to stay competitive) and wondering if you all had heard of this too?

Any advice would be definitely appreciated, or even a PM to a dealer who ships with heavy discount would be even better!

I tried this in the UK in the summer and got a really good deal on a Speedy at a high street AD. I referenced an airport price from another AD at 20% off that was better than I’d seen at a grey dealer. I bought my PO8900 early last year and was offered 10% without asking with a Wolf 5 watch box thrown in. This was my first purchase for a number of years, so was pretty happy. I’ve since learned a lot from this forum, and could probably have done better. I believe the speedy price was good having bought the PO earlier.

I purchased two brand new in box Omegas, the Planet Ocean and the Speedmaster Moon Watch, from Bernard Watch in Austin, Texas. They offer great service and great price.

You may want to check them out at bernardwatch.com. They are a reputable business that sells and buys watches.

Note, I am not afiliated in any way with this business; I am a satisfied customer.

With a good relationship with the right AD, you should have no trouble getting 25-30% off MSRP on any Omega.

Yeah, I've already got a few ADs to go to 30% with this model (thanks to a few generous members sending me a PM). However, one Grey dealer is selling at almost 32% off, so trying to find an AD to beat it. All three ADs had 30% as their ceiling though....and were pretty firm about it.

People debate the value of a warranty, but for a 2% difference I would go with an authorized dealer. Omega's quality is pretty good, but 2% is a small price to pay for peace of mind over the next five years. Most of the ADs will size it and ship it for free as well, which is a nice touch. I purchased a Tudor Black Bay several years ago that stopped unexpectedly. I can't imagine what Rolex would have charged me to swap the movement it it wasn't covered by warranty. My Planet Ocean GMT is also running -4 slow or so. I'm not overly concerned about it, but should the rate drop even more, it's nice to know I could ship it to Omega and have it examined and serviced under warranty anytime over the next five years.

C'mon man, that's like 100 bucks.

I was thinking this too. The extra $100 is worth going to an AD over a grey. Also, you will be building AD relationship equity, which could help down the road.
