is it bad to leave my 3940 on a watch winder all the time when not worn?

I have had more problems with leaving my PC off a winder than leaving it on.

Only if you have a winder which turns counter clockwise only and turns very slowly so only gravity is moving the rotor. Cheaper winding boxes tend to spin fast and that prematurely wears out the rotor. Gravity will not do that. Patek sells their winding boxed separately. I would buy the new travel winder for your 3940.

With all due respect, this is just bull. Have you ever seen winders that rotate so fast it could cause wear? Those devices are called “washing machines”. What besides gravity do you think turns the rotor in cheaper winders? Centrifugal force? Come on. There is absolutely no difference in wear between expensive and cheap winders as long as you keep to the recommended numbers of turns, which for the 240 movement is around 600 per day (if I remember correctly), counter clockwise. The difference lies in materials and level of finishing. |

I have the older model of the Rapport Evo cube... no detailed settings just soft, medium, strong. I leave it on soft and it seems to keep the watch set. But it turns in both directions and I can only assume the soft setting is in the 800TPD range... should I be worried?
