I am the world's worst watch collector

I would never sell any of my watches as each one was bought with a special memory. That being said while cooped up at house I decided to look at all my boxes and paperwork etc etc. Most missing extra links, sales receipts, hangtags, and a couple of warranty cards. Also the boxes are mixed up as well , meaning I don't know which box is for what watch. Example, If I have 2 or more PM Daytonas ( big boxes) I not sure which one came with what box as manuals are the same. Not all the boxes even have the manual so agin I have no idea what box came with what watch. It kind of bummed me out because much later in life it would be cool to see the cost back then etc. Anyone else have this problem? Stay Safe.

Humble brag much?

Just kidding. I know a couple guys like this, and as funny as it sounds, it can be a real problem!

Sounds like a great Quarantine/self isolation project for you to organize and document your watch collection.

A gentlemen in another thread was asking why they were so many watches for sale without boxes and papers.

He needs to see this thread.

Feel you! I try to store everything (endlinks, hang tags, bezel protector, warranty card and sales receipt) in the box itself. I don’t anticipate sellingcany models so its not for the full set effect, but will be fun in 20-30 years to look at.

That is what I am most bummed missing receipts( only a few ) so in 20 to 30 years it would be fun to look back what I paid and where I was etc. Maybe I will create a spreadsheet while my mind still works

Just enjoy the watch and forget about the box.

I keep the sales receipt and warranty cards together in my safe or bank safety box. The extra links and tags stay in the box. Two weeks ago I found all the empty boxes in the attic and made as many boxes match the tags and booklets, etc. Then put a yellow sickly on top of the each box with the model number and what was inside the box. It took a little while, but I was able to get almost all of my boxes in order.

Unfortunately, I only got through my Rolex and Omega collection and rest will be for another day.

One of my customer literally throw all the boxes away because he said it will corrode and turn mouldy anyway so better to throw it first!

I'm definitely one that collects boxes... Of basically everything. My storage attic is full of boxes... From the coffee maker, to the flat screen, computer boxes... And yep. The receipt stays in the box!

Clickbait title!

I’ve every single box, and everything that came with every single watch, regardless of value or usefulness. Just a habit since over 20 years. Doesn’t apply to just watches. Drives my wife crazy!

Except for the watch and warranty card, which I store in a safety box off premise, I keep all accessories and receipts in the box the watch comes in and store these at home.

Get help. You have identified you have a problem so a cathartic fire sale is the only way I see as a definitive solution.

Didn't you leave the original warranty cards / papers in the boxes?
If you did you should be able to figure out which box belongs to which watch.
