Box Papers Question

Picked up a Sub Date a few weeks ago from an AD

I just noticed that it did not come with the outer sleeve that the stamped box slides into as well as the foam paper that goes on top of the green box.

Wanted to know if I would be able to go back to the AD and ask for both and, if they say no, will this affect the value down the line

You can ask, but I’m sure it gets thrown out. I can’t see it affecting the value.

A box is just that a packaging item that will not effect the value of the most important bit the actual watch.

The outer box and the foam paper are the most important thing. That’s exactly why people buy these watches. Return it. The watch is now useless.

Try and forget about the sleeve and foam. I doubt the AD has them hidden somewhere. And I doubt it will have any impact on future value. Rolex does not make the boxes, sleeves, or foam. They are purchased by Rolex, most likely from some 3rd World country were they are made by impoverished young children so Rolex can save a penny.

Boxes are not generally the box that actually came with the watch. A box is purchasable

You can ask for anything.

These items aren't worth the gas that you would spend, nor the time it takes, and have zero affect on value down-the-line.

But if you truly want them, give it a shot.

I wouldn't worry about anything except the green box and what's supposed to be in it.

You paid for the watch from your hard earned cash and the experience should be smooth and trouble free so, if you don't feel comfortable not having the full package you should contact the AD and let them source one for you.

I experienced the same buying a Rolex for the Mrs but when I they did not give it to me. If it was for myself I would have walked but could not disappoint the Mrs.

There is no value in it, just another silly AD game. They make this pathetic stuff up all the time.

Go back to the AD and demand those items. Then stand back because he's gonna spit his Coke out his nose.

Are we talking about the white sleeve that the outer box (not the green one) goes into?

I wouldn’t worry about it .. u got the tags the box and the watch .. and paper work that’s all that matters .. It would not stop me buying a watch because of a out sleeve or foam

If you feel more comfortable having them, ask for these items. They will have massed up Rolex packaging items and should have that ready for you. They are interchangeable between watches.

Thanks for the feedback.
Was told that Geneva doesn't consider either as fitting the "luxury" of the brand and encourages that they be discarded by the AD

The entire watch community isn't looking for the outer box and Styrofoam packing sleeve. In fact. Most people used to throw the whole kit out. Now in the last few years all these boxes and stickers have to be on the watch if you are selling it. Frankly I wish Rolex would stop putting on the stickers. You need three wraps of plastic, two bracelet ends and the watch head wrapped then ship it. And I am certain if you back to the AD they won't give you anything, they will say its all gone.

My AD gave me everything including the coffin that they received the watch in from Rolex. Is it all necessary? Nope. but it was nice to get the whole kit with the purchase.

I actually like these items. The white outer sleeve keeps the box secure and closed and the foam sheet keeps the box snug. I would prefer to have them although I realize they add nothing to the value of the watch to someone who wants the watch to wear. The pieces I have without these items is not a matter I am concerned about. But nicer to have than not.
