FOIS Discontinued

Fratello breaking the news. Interesting move. I wonder if they will replace it or reserve this case design for more upscale options.

That's hardly news. Its been discontinued for sometime now.

Some ADs have some stock left but I think you will be pressed to find any. There is no replacement planned at this time.

321 will be the only Speedy available in this size. Omega has discontinued several models and has been effectively slimming down the catalogue.

It was never official discontinued, only rumors that they would.
In fact, you can still order one directly from Omega right now.

The Hesalite Speedmasters are showing out of stock now on the Omega website.

Why did you decide to sell yours? Seems like a good reason to hold onto it

I believe this is all tied to models using the 1861 movement. Since the movement is likely discontinued, they’re dropping models that use it. Newer Speedmasters will come out (knowing Omega probably quite a few) with the new movement.

It'll be interesting to see if they keep the vintage case for the 321. Frankly, they should.

This is already being done with the EW SS 321.

Interesting developments all around. Considering the signs we're seeing, I guess a real transition may be in process now, effecting the discontinuation of the current Caliber 1861 Speedmaster Pro and the introduction of the updated Caliber 3861 Speedmaster Pro.

Exciting stuff, I say! There are plenty of examples of the outgoing model to be had for anyone who finds he prefers it, and now we'll have the opportunity to own the new, updated model soon

What is the First Omega in Space compared to the Speedmaster Pro Moonwatch?

Pre-moonwatch. It’s basically a tribute watch to the one Astronaut Wally Schirra wore when he went up into orbit in ‘62.

I’ve recently read The Right Stuff by Tom Wolfe and really got into the space race etc so naturally started to take more of an interest in Speedmasters.

Ernest Jones stores in the Uk recently put the FOIS into the January sales at £1000 off the £4080 rrp so I snapped one up just before the latest lockdown!

I have to say, I’ve really fallen for it! Love the straight lugs, no crown guards, alpha hands, mismatch on the sub dials, applied logo.

Great pick up! To add to your list; the manual winding just feels special / personal too.

I recently got a few nato straps for it and def recommend!

I could be wrong, but I don't see this appreciating significantly (especially with how many they made). Maybe I could have gotten another couple hundred if I waited half a year, but it's not really worth it to me.

It's a fantastic watch, don't get me wrong, but in the end the CK2998 took its place.

It's a great watch but the strap is garbage. Changed mine out immediately.

That CK2998 is a great watch. Would definitely be my pick between the two. both too small for my wrist though. Even the 42's wear smaller than I prefer.
