Lange 1815 Annual Calendar Input Wanted
Hey everyone,
I’m thinking of purchasing an 1815 annual calendar. For anyone who has owned one, any thoughts? Is it comfortable? Any issues I should be aware of? Thank you in advance. Best, Matt

The 1815 Annual Calendar is a gorgeous watch and the fact that you can advance all functions simultaneously with the push of a button makes it very practical. I think it also might be the only manual wind annual calendar in existence as well. The 40mm size is about right for this but its lug to lug measurement is better than the 39mm 1815 Chronograph because the lugs are shorter, making it easier to wear on smaller wrists.

seems inconvenient to have a manual wind annual calendar. i enjoy winding watches but if it's i'm a rotation id want to just be able to stick it on a winder.

It is a beautiful watch
Well priced, balanced dial. Go for it.

I don't own the 1815 annual calendar but I have an 1815 and a Lange 1 and I wish I owned the 1815 A/C. One of the most beautiful dials Lange makes and likely the most beautiful A/C on the market. As Justindo points out you can advance all the A/C functions at once so that if you don't wind the watch for a few weeks it's easy to catch it up to the present date. Winding any Lange is a pleasure because the movement works so smoothly.

I have a white gold version which I wear for work (perk of the job!), it's been absolutely wonderful. Ever so comfortable, beautifully legible, but I warn you, you will end up being completely distracted by the moon phase.
I've also found it to be versatile with regards to straps. It's a neutral colour scheme (with a slight bias towards blue), so you can pretty much have anything. I'm currently wearing mine on a mid-tan suede Camille Fournet strap to make it a touch more casual. It looks phenomenal on the Lange 1 25th Anniversary royal blue strap too. With regards to it being manual wind, Lange, as always, have thought it through and made it easy to live with. Firstly, it's a 72h power reserve, and easily lasts over a weekend without being touched. Secondly, it has a quick advance button to advance all calendar functions at the same time. After the initial set-up, it means it's as easy to set up as a simple date-only watch. I heartily recommend it - it's very much overlooked in the current Lange range, but you can't argue with how much watch you get for the money Chris ![]() |

I love my 1815 AC.
Yes, it's manual wind, but that's also why Lange gave it a quick set mechanism (the pusher at 2 o'clock). Literally for this reason. Wear comfortably. No problems at all. Keeps great time. Long enough power reserve. Looks great. And, most importantly, the moon phase has a lot of stars in it! |

I am contemplating a Lange 1 Moonphase, but do think the 1815 AC is beautiful too. For those with experience with both, could you provide any feedback that can be used when deciding between the two?

I have experience with the L1 MP and have tried (but not owned) the 1815 AC several times. They'll wear similarly, though the AC is 1.5mm larger in diameter. The 1815 AC is a much newer model, and it gets a bit more criticism for the reason others have mentioned: Many people would prefer an automatic movement in a calendar watch (such as the Saxonia AC or the discontinued Langematik Perpetual Calendar). But both watches are generally well regarded and considered attractive and desirable. If I were you, I'd be looking more at how each of these watches might fit into what you already have -- so I would be thinking about things such as if I already have a calendar watch, if I already have a nice moonphase, etc.

Anyhow, if picking up either the L1 or 1815 AC, I would trade in the Saxonia Thin towards it. The L1 is definitely iconic in the ALS lineup, and I love how the moonphase doubles as a day/night indicator. Also love the date feature, which looks like it would be fun to interact with. On the other hand, I like the legibility of the 1815, the countersunk subdials, and the railroad chapter rings. I think the button that lets you sync the day, date, and moonphase if the power runs out is ingenious. However, you cannot interact with that button too much without screwing up all your settings. |

Sure, happy to help. Can you explain more about your last sentence? How would it screw up your settings if you push that button many times?

Say the watch lost power 3 days ago. You pick it up, and are supposed to click the button 3 times to allow the day, date, and moonphase to catch up right? What happens if you click it more than 3 times? Will you have to then individually reset each of the settings with a small button pusher?

I did that once with a Journe annual calendar and had to rotate the crown through 364 more days -- my hand practically fell off. And if that's a concern, definitely don't get one of these! |

I am also hesitating between these two models, difficult choice! For now, I am thinking to get the L1 MP as it's my first Lange and it has the date and design signatures unique to Lange.

I have owned the pink gold version for a while; which I must say I loved it. It is an extremely versatile piece (yes even in pink gold) and a charming one.
On the back it has a bit more going on that the classic 1815 versions with exposed ratchet wheels. So, it is not as boring if I may say. Alas, I felt that it became too much of a classic after a while. Too traditional and stable. Hence the reason it went away. If you have chance, I'd suggest you to try for a while and then decide. Good luck! |

Is there any discount at the Boutiques/ADs for Lange (Lange 1 MP or Lange 1815 AC)?
I saw some discount (15-18%) at Grey. Thanks in advance!
