Exp I 224270 Clasp and Half Link options

Love my new Exp 40....one thing I've been tinkering all night with is I can't get a perfect fit....it's OK, but not perfect.....Steel Reef does not offer a half link yet for the 224270...is there another model (OP41?) that has half links that I can order hopefully from the AD or even buy on ebay?

How about the Sub Glidelock clasp, is it compatible with the 224270?

Any other options?

I'd love to know if there are options as well. I picked up my Explorer 40 last week and although I love it the fit is just not quite right. Adding a half link would do the trick but otherwise it is a bit loose or a bit tight.

Have you adjusted the bracelet position within the clasp? Clasp has three holes, should be enough to get you what you want.

Yes. With an extra link and the clasp adjusted to the smallest option it is too loose and without the extra link and the clasp adjusted to the largest option it is too tight. I need 2-3mm and it would be perfect. I have no issues sizing either my DJ41 on jubilee or my Submariner (glide lock makes it by far the most comfortable/adjustable fit). It is not enough of an issue that I don't wear it almost every day. It just would be nice to tweak it a little.

Have you gone smallest and opened the EZ link for the 5MM adjustment? I have the same issue with my 40mm explorer. It’s close to perfect but not quite perfect. I believe there is a half link you can get for it.

Yes. It is a good fit at the smallest setting and the EZ link loosened. I just like having that extra give on the days my wrist swells. I’m trying to have it all … if possible.

Wearing the sub spoils you. I felt the same way when i put the explorer one. It doesn’t quite have that perfect fit like the sub.

Well, hopefully the half link from SR will be available soon.

In the meantime, however, I believe one of our members tried a sub half link on the EXP and it worked out for him. Not sure if it was the 116 or 216, though. Maybe he will see this thread and chime in. Good luck,

Clasp position adjustment made the difference for my wrist.
I moved a link from the 6 side to the 12 side and it positioned the clasp in a way that allowed for some movement but not too much ….. and kept it naturally in the correct spot on top of my wrist.

We should always have more lakes on the 12 o’clock side, for the reasons noted above.

Would a half link from the Submariner 116610 or 114060 bracelet work? The new Explorer in 40 mm has a similar width bracelet to the old Sub. Not sure if compatible though.

I finally got around to trying a half link from my Sub (current 126613LB) in my Explorer 40 (224270) and I can confirm that it fits. If it wasn’t TT I’d just leave it this way as I don’t need it on the Sub. Good to know this is an option for tweaking Explorer 40 sizing.

That’s great to know.

Had the same problem with my My Sky-Dweller in getting an ideal fit and balance in sizing it. Was able to use a half link from my SD43 to get it to fit perfectly. Couldn’t get a half link from Rolex for the Sky-Dweller. It doesn’t bother me that the half link center portion is matte finish - I don’t notice it.

Yes. The 126610 does come with a half link closest to the glidlock clasp. I’m meeting with the boutique SA later today as they are still wanting to try to tweak fit although I’ve already tried all options myself. He leads me to believe it is possible to order one if all else fails. We shall see. To me it’s an opportunity to visit the boutique and catch up.

I’d be fine with him finding me a half link still attached to the whole SS Submariner.

If the links from 126610/124060 fits, then I assume the glidelock should also fit? Has anyone tried fitting one to the Explorer 40?

Have a look at Steelreef in UK, their links have the exact same look as Rolex, both 316 or 904L steel
