Shipping a Watch in 2025 To A Family Member

What is the best/safest way to ship a watch to a family member out of state?

I've heard many people say that the quality/dependability of FedEx has declined, but I've had nothing but good experiences with them. As the others have said insure it. It's a bit pricey, but I'd rather go overboard than not.

Fedex double box, ship from a FedEx office site to another FedEx office site with insurance.

I have not heard that FedEx insures beyond some nominal amount. Most shippers have their own insurance which covers such shipments. If you do not have the watch insured, I would send it by US Registered Mail where you can insure it up to 50K. Tracking stinks, non-existent actually, but it is the most secure way to ship something.

Every time I have used Registered Mail to ship to RSC, it’s been quite detailed to include every point it has changed hands. Hopefully that hasn’t gone to crap since I last used it about two years ago.

I also have used Registered Mail at least a dozen times with no problems and tracking was accurate.

The problem with FedEx is getting private insurance to cover full value of a Rolex.

In the unlikely event your FedEx package goes missing, the police will let you know it's impossible to know who did what.

In the unlikely event your USPS Reg. package goes missing, the Feds will know who did what and you get your value back.

Best/Safest is USPS Reg. Mail 100% Insured.

I use Registered Mail for anything valuable or irreplaceable. The tracking has always been very detailed and the insurance is inexpensive.

FedEx and UPS are not reliable. They have lost several packages in the last couple years and they don't care that they've lost it.

Any advantage of including an air tag?
