Real OP Celebration?

Hi, just want to ask your opinions, my friend offer me this OP Celebration complete set without the white tag. How to make sure the dial is original from Rolex not aftermarket dial? Can you spot from the picture? Thank you.

That watch looks huge on your wrist like that. Sure you want it?

Those dial colors look off especially the yellow dots. I'm pretty confident it's not legit.

I own one straight from the AD and it doesn't look like mine. Not sure if it's simply the image itself or what but I'd be cautious. Lots of fake celebration dials floating around.

Gonna be honest, if your friend didn’t buy this from an AD and you have to question if it’s real, that’s a deal I’d pass on 99/100 times. Any deal I’ve ever made with ‘friends’ I’d never need to do a legit check on.

The watch appears very big to me on your wrist and that's putting it mildly.

Walk it through your AD if you have a good relationship.

What is the date of warranty card vs when your friend purchased it?

Since it is a friend, I would be less concerned if their purchase date corresponds to warranty card. If it does, essentially impossible for it to be a dial swap.

If there is a long gap then it is possible for a fake dial to have been swapped in. Easy for the AD to determine (see above). A swap to a legit dial is highly improbable given lack of availability.

What appears off about the colors? I look at them in relative terms as the whole image appears over saturated. I adjusted saturation and compared it to an authentic dial and they appear to match. I also own one and under first impression this looks legitimate.

Not an opinion that it IS legit, I just don’t see colors here as a red flag.

It’s a bit of a chameleon dial like many Rolex dials, I wouldn’t depend on a picture. If it’s a full set minus the white tag, it’s probably real.

Many US and EU ADs don’t give out the white tag so it’s hard to base authenticity on simply a white tag. Take it to Rolex Service Centre and ask them to take it in to check, saying it’s either running slow or fast.

If they reject the watch or come back to you saying about aftermarket parts means the dial could be aftermarket.

If it’s your “friend”, just ask to see the receipt, which will list the dial just as legitimately as the white swing tag.

Also, if you don’t trust your friend, how well do you know him or her?

Finally, someone could have a legit white swing tag, original receipt, and still swap the dial and keep the original dial to swap into a blue OP.

You must buy the seller regardless.

The only red flags I see is the gaps on the bottom lugs/bracelet appears to big also it may be the angle of the pic but the crown should be centred with the indice at 3.

Not going to say is a fake but further research is required.

Looks off but could be the pic. I would commit to nothing and if you really want it confirm with an AD or better yet service center that the serial number is for a celebration dial.

I think “what kind of friend is he” may be the best clue lol.

Seriously, not sure why it has to be so difficult. Go to an AD and have them confirm. Also, check purchase timing (he must have a record) vs warranty card.

So easy.

I would not buy a celebration dial from anyone without everything to confirm its authenticity since as you admitted there are fake dials out there. I have mine with the hangtang, but even without, the serial and "celebration motif" are written on the receipt.

Looks off. There's a lot of fake dials floating around out there and if it's questionable, it's a pass.

Personally I'm inclined to think it's fake, and not just the dial.

A bit of a giveaway on most of the fake versions of the OP is the length of the hour hand. If you compare it to GB-Man's genuine photo, you can see that the hour hand on the OP's, errr... OP doesn't quite reach the minute track.

Of course it's just one picture, and it may just be the angle/quality of that picture, but if anything I think that angle should make the hands actually appear longer than they are. As they say - if in doubt, then there's no doubt.

Without the white tag (which is rarely faked) and a corresponding till receipt I'd pass.

as many have said, if in doubt dont get it (because it will always remain a doubt in your mind). If it is a friend who has got it directly from an AD and you trust this friend then should be fine though.

Re some comments about the size of the watch on your wrist - I would say ignore it. If you like it that is what matter and no one else cares. watch size is purely personal.

Good catch on the hands, though the shadow/light play may deceive along with angle. Relative to indices looks okay, however…

Again, not sure how complicated it is to validate a watch held by a friend when OP likely has a good AD relationship.

Nothing can be concluded from your picture.
Only way to verify is to offer it for service to an RSC and await their reply.
If something wrong they will refuse service.

If your friend bought it from an AD it is of course all good
