Have the issues with the 4401/4404 movement been solved?

I seem to see less posts about issues with these movements. Has the issue with the chrono minute subdials moving on its own been fixed?

They say it’s been fixed but it hasn’t. My 26240CE went in last June 2024 and it’s starting to creep again.

Honestly will refuse AP chronos for the next few years.

I got my 26240ce in December and no issues yet.

I don’t think they have solved the issues yet.

The 26420RO I bought in September 2023 has had to go in twice and started creeping again a month or so ago. The 26240OR I bought in December 2024 started creeping almost immediately, and it’s much worse compared to my 26420. I would send them to Clearwater for service if they weren’t so backed up because of their move to North Carolina.

As fellow users have mentioned on this thread and in others, I too am hesitant to purchase any more chronographs from AP.

Apparently it was solved last September.

However my Oct 2023 26420CE has just had the problem occur again last week for the 5th time!

My Feb 2024 26240ST has been in twice for this issue.

No more AP 440x chronos for me.

Any pics of the extent of the creep folks are seeing?

Do you think my minute counter is within spec?

Truly embarrassing for AP. How can they not get a chrono movement right after all this time?

That is most def creep. Only when you click the reset and it doesn’t move is that considered not creep.

Ah you’re right, just pushing reset does move the minute back to alignment, never noticed that as I thought that was default position. However it doesn’t “creep” any more past that position even after a long time

I had that issue with my Pt44 a few years back. Clearwater fixed it, though I don’t recall what they did.

Can confirm: creep still an issue.

My ROO will go back a 3rd time to get it fixed at some point... This time it's not as noticeable as the last two iterations (I.e. there's mostly a small deviation) but it's still there.

Quite annoying tbh and also incredulous : like you can design a QP ultrathin and a Code11.59 ultracomp but you can't get a Chrono movement right?!? Come on man

Is your ROO the 43mm or 42mm?

From my observation, it is the 26420 (43mm) and 26240 (41mm RO chrono) that is more susceptible to the creep.

Also, this finally happened, the hours started creeping instead of the minutes. Definitely a first for me

It's the 43mm... Getting quite annoyed at this point.

Not that it's a big deal but 1) it should be fixed after the first time and 2) once you see it it's hard to unsee

Same here.

Mine just went in for the 5th time and I’m asking them for another solution other than another repair.

That's disappointing to hear. Recently picked up a 99 end of days, liked it more than I expected. Been thinking about getting a newer 42 or 43, but likely will hold off

Was not aware this was an issue in the older 44 3126/3840 movement. Do you happen to know if it was a fairly common issue like the one we hear of with this newer movement?

For reference, here’s some creeping shown in the 26240 and the 26420.
