Reporting a stolen watch - 5168G-001
Does anyone have recent experience reporting a stolen watch to Patek? There is a web form on their website but when you go to submit it gives an error stating the functionality is unavailable.
The watch was a gift many years ago from a large collector, whom I will notify of the theft, however I do not have a direct relationship with any ADs. The watch is registered in my name. As I'm sure it will be asked, it was stolen from my bag yesterday on a train in the south of France. The bag was directly above me on the overhead rack and never left me, the passengers directly behind must have slowly removed it when I was focused on my laptop. Other jewelry was stolen from my wife's bag that was sitting at her feet - she thinks they likely reached under from the seat behind. We met with the authorities in Paris last night, who given the value escalated to the national police, and have filed a formal complaint for insurance purposes. I will share the serial/movement number here and on reddit after I have submitted the notice to Patek to mitigate any issues that may come up if someone were to try to take the number and register it to themself. |
