DSSD tempted to get one, should I?

Hi folks,

so let me paint the picture.

Not so long back my collection contained a classic back sub, a white dialed EXP II, and the GMT2C.

I been craving for some change and change towards bigger... so i sold of my EXP II and bought a new PAM 005.
Had the fiver for 2 weeks and had mixed feelings about it... mostly i thought problem lies in the price for an unitas watch (but that proved not to be the case later on).
So i sold the fiver and bought a new pam 312 again not alot of time passed i realized and even bigger truth that PAM dont stick to good with me period...

I give it 2 shoots and failed both. So the 312 is now for sale... and im not going that direction. Panerai watches are splendid but just not me im afraid.

Now im looking into the DSSD. I'm thinking its a Rolex (they tend to stay longer) and its BIG so ticks this to boxes, but on the flip side its quite same stilled to my 16610 SUB and 116710 GMTIIc.

Besides the DSSD i saw a 116333 TT DJ II, Grey dial and green roman numerals... i would never consider this watch but i saw it live at my AD last week and its beautiful.
I have 2 reservations about it do... 1. im not so sure if im a TT guy (never owned a TT watch) and 2. its not really BIGer then the 2 watches i have. The 2 positives would be: 1 B_E_A_U_T_I_F_U_L, 2: its different to the 2 rolexes i have.

Throw in ure thoughts guys :)

regards L

I can't speak to the DJ, but I've had my DSSD for seven months now and I can't ever imagine getting rid of it. Yes it's big, but that's part of its appeal. I highly recommend the DEEPSEA and think you would be very pleased with. Good luck on the decision!

I can tell you that I looked Long and hard for the perfect watch(for myself) and would not, and do not want any other watch(even if I had millions) than my DEEPSEA. It is worth every penny I spent. The watch is an absolute masterpiece that is in a class of its own.IMHO,there is not a better built watch on the face of the earth that is all that and more!Good Hunting.Congrats on whatever you get.

It's not the bracelet.

It's your wrist.

Just make sure you try it on first ..................... but if you like it - go for it !!!

I did - and I have not regretted it for a second, even though I have been committed to Omega until now !! It´s a magnificent watch, and surprisingly comfortable to wear !!!

X2. I've been flipping watches for well over 15 years now trying to find 'The One!' Rolex, Omega, Brietling, Bell&Ross, Fortis, and a handful of others...I've owned them all (w/ multiple models of each). Many have come close, but for one reason or another something was off and therefore my eye kept wondering.

Over 1 year of ownership w/ the DSSD now and it's never been off my wrist for more than 15 mins during that whole time...and I can honestly report I've stopped looking for 'The One' because I've finally found it. I can't give any better endorsement than that. It might not be for some, but for those like me and tthopp05 it's definitely the perfect watch.

My DSSD is the most perfect watch I've ever owned.

However much you think it will look like your other watches, the feel is very different. Since getting my DSSD my GMTII feels like a different watch, so light and thin. The contrast is amazing and adds to the experience of owning the watch.

Buy it, you will be very glad that you did.

DS is a great watch...
I am tempted myself...
I say you should go for it... you can always sell it if you fancy something else.
As far as 2 tone... that is a tough one... i think its beautiful but for me, I don't think I am mature enough for it yet.

It is a looker.

I've also had mine for over a year and I'm very happy with it. I also picked up a Pam 312 and am surprised that you don't like yours. But, to each his own I suppose. I would definately try on a Deepsea before you buy one however, just to be sure.

I don't really enjoy my DSSD compared to my other watches. Too thick, and the time is difficult to tell from many angles due to the rehaut depth and the thick thick crystal. I do like the size and weight, but I am wearing my sub more often than the DSSD because its not as "convenient" As others have stated here, make sure you try it on, and for an extended period of time I might add. It gets caught on my dress shirts quite a bit as well. It is really a mans tool watch like no other.

Hum...this is some great info... I am going to get a new watch tomorrow at my AD as they are purchasing my GMT back due to multiple problems and was considering the DSSD...I will try on as well, my biggest concern is the size. I have a 6.5-7 inch wrist, and wondering if it is too big???

Adam,

I own one as well, and I think the ONLY concern for most is how thick the watch is, and how high it sit's on your wrist. The diameter is awesome, nice big face, but the thickness is a little hard to get use too!

I've owned the Deepsea for six months now and would never dream of selling it. I love its weight, the fantastic Glidelock bracelet and the domed crystal. I don't find the lettering on the inner dial obtrusive at all and I can see the time clearly at all times and from all angles.

However, it is a heavy, chunky watch that may not be comfortable for some people when worn over an extended period so it's best to try it on first.

I love it.. best watch I ever bought.. it's a keeper

if you can 'wear' the DSSD - and you love it when on... then get it. I just can't realistically wear it....but if I felt I could I'd buy it in a heartbeat

As soon as I saw the DSSD I knew I had to get that watch, I traded my TT Black sub and a little extra cash and it was mine, This has been by far the best Rolex I have owned , I love this watch, But I will tell you it depends on the kind of person you are , (example) if you like a Corvette buy it and then sell it because it didn't ride as smooth as a Mercedes Benz. then don't buy it . It is something new and until you adapt not as comfortable as a smaller watch that you are use to. It is big and a little heavy but feels like a mans watch. you will adapt to it and then maybe feel like the other models are too light and not as tough. I would never trade it and I feel like I have found the watch that will always remain with me, I wear it casual and dressy and goes well, I have nothing negative to say about the DSSD. See it, try it, get it !
No Regrets !

Really? Maybe that's because it's a dive watch, NOT a dress watch. I've never understood how the DSSD can ever get complaints for not going well with dress shirts/suits...that 'complaint' should be banned w/ this watch IMO. Why anyone would try and utilize this watch in this fashion is beyond me. Truth be told, I've even worn mine a few times w/ my larger cuffed dress shirts...but god knows I didn't enjoy it as much as when I strapped it to the outside of my wet suit & put a regulator in my mouth.

LOL. That's the same progression I went through. One SD, Sub Date & LV...then purchased a Blacksteel right before the DSSD purchase. IMO, none hold a candle to the DSSD (hence the reason they are now all gone except the DSSD).

I'm very fortunate to own both the DSSD and GMT IIc but I agree 100% the DSSD is almost certainly the "ONE"......although I plan to keep the "TWO"

Nice. I would be lying if I didn't admit to having others in my collection...I guess 'The One' classification for me has to do w/ the fact if I had to get rid of all my watches (w/ all sentimentality issues aside) and keep only one, which one would make the cut. No doubt in my mind it would be the DSSD.

When you look upon a watch with just as much (if not more) affection after one year of ownership and can honestly say it still brings as big a smile to your face as it did on day one of ownership, well that's when you know you've got the right watch for you.
