5905/1A-001 or 5924G-001
Hello everyone. This is my first post to the forum. I’ll start off saying I have never owned a PP. I think the reason is, I like larger watches and PP has a tendency to hit the more dress side of things in smaller formats (I think). So, me and Patek just never got together. I am attempting to change that and get a Patek into my collection. Most of my watches are Lange’s and IWC’s. I want this watch to be on the casual side which is why these two bubbled to the surface. I want it to be more friendly to dressing down, jeans and t-shirts let’s say. The complications are not the focus, it’s more so the look and feel, which understandably is personal preference. I plan on keeping for the long haul. I’d like opinions as to which watch of the two will stand the test of time as it relates to value retention, relevance, that sort of thing. Also, which represents the brand better, if that makes any sense! Thanks for listening.

5905 out of the two, although neither one will retain value or be a collectible. Also take a look at 5524g if you want to save some $.

I don't think either will be great in terms of long term value retention or relevant in terms of the development of the brand but what do I know...
If you like the look of Patek's pilot watches I would get a 5522A for a lot less. Also a large watch at 42mm but with a thin steel case and a lovely clean dial and presumably a lot more rare than 5924 or 5524 given its limited 600 piece run. Still a lot in the absolute but not in the thousands over many years. |

5924G over the 5905A, but I’d choose the 5905P over either. I have been considering trading up my 5524G for a 5924 or more likely, the 5905P for a couple months now.
