I FINALLY found one!!!

in 2018, Seiko released a limited edition edition prospex, called the “Dawn Gray.” They only manufactured 2018 pieces and only sold it in Europe.

I have seen it on line from time to time, and gradually, had to have one! I looked in a lot of places, they were relatively rare and the ones available were usually extremely high priced, more then I wanted to spend. They also only seem to be available in Europe (makes sense), and although I am sure cross-Atlantic transactions happen securely every day, was leery about sending money across the pond and hoping for the best.

At a TRF event a couple months ago, I met a local grey dealer, that had an EXCEPTIONAL Seiko collection, pretty much everyone I had ever wanted to own, a Captain Willard, a Orange-Dial UFO, a Pogue 6139 ETC. I anxiously looked for a Dawn, but didn’t see one. Speaking with him, he was not familiar with the model but said he had lot’s of contacts and see what he could find out. I told him I was really interested in getting one in the US, (of course) had to be in good condition, but was ready if he found a good one. Well,… HE DID
I picked it up today.

This is amazing! It really POPS when you look at it. The color is very very attractive, but at the same time I don’t find it blingy. It wears great and I am very happy.

The sale was full box and papers, including the original warranty card from the store that originally sold it in France! I Googled it and here is a picture of that actual store. Oh, and although both bracelets were included, I am rocking it on a modest NATO.

All in all, a very cool day

Congratulations. I like the watch and have from time to time looked into purchasing one but have been deterred by the secondary prices. I may have to revisit it.

Nice. I consider myself a Seiko fanatic and loyalist.

Now... do you pronounce Prospex? Prahspecks or Pro Specks?

I was at a watch event and the Seiko VP pronounced is Pro Specks. Caught me off guard.

Also, I contacted a Japanese watch dealer for a particular Scubamaster Kinetic many years ago, and he was able to find one in Japan. He charged me a fair price, and documented everything he was charging me for:

- the watch
- train fare to get to the market where he found the watch
- taxes for the watch
- his time

Anyway, great Prospex! Congrats.
