GMT Root Beer [WTB & Questions] >>>>

I don't know if I'm ready to buy (price will determine), but do you guys know how much an older TT root beer GMT goes for? The ones with the gold markers.

I'm looking for one in good shape or a great deal on a beater I can send in to Rolex Dallas. Bracelet is not needed, but would consider. Anyone have one or have a source?

In the end I'm looking for a good example I can put on a nice strap. I saw one on TZ that looks nice, but the guy wants like $3,800 or something - I can't rememeber, but it was to much for me.

Thanks!

Hello Ian,

While the root beer GMT was not a very popular model, liked only by some, a price of around $3000 would be quite fair IMHO.

It's not one of the easiest Rollies to off-load, so a desperate seller would probably accept any reasonable offer.

Good luck, pal - JJ

Thanks JJ -

I must be dreaming, but I thought (at least a few years ago) those were going for more like $2k. I guess like everything else they've gone up.

Ian, I think it obviously depends on series and condition. A newer root-beer, say the past five years should be in the low US$3K neighbourhood. Anything older and you're into the mid-$2K range. Without a bracelet, lop about a grand off.

I saw one in a pawn shop in Toronto about two years ago and they wanted CDN$3000 for it cuz no one would buy it.

Good luck.

Thanks Atomic - that's more of what I was thinking. I want one that's at least 10, maybe 15-20 years old - so I was hoping for more like under $2k without the bracelet. I'll keep my eyes out, but at least I know to hold out for one more in line with my price limit.

Thanks guys!
