Nice Swiss movement; notice the ball bearings on the winding weight.

Yes, the first one is a swiss 2836 i believe and the 2nd is a Asian 3135 clone. The clone is not a reliable movement

The 3135 Clone has not been out very long and it will be scary if the actually succeed in creating one that actually works well.

Even real ETA movements have parts made in China.
A watch movement is considered Swiss if; the movement has been assembled in Switzerland, the movement has been inspected by the manufacturer in Switzerland and the components of Swiss manufacture account for at least 50 percent of the total value, without taking into account the cost of assembly. Notice that just component "value" not percent must be Swiss. China can manufacture a part at a fraction of a Swiss company. |

Counterfeit watches support illegal activity, drugs, terrorism, etc. This is part of the reason we do NOT discuss them here amongst other reasons.

Taken from http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSN16426699
"When you buy counterfeit goods, you support child labor, drug trafficking, organized crime and even worse," one version reads. Another says that buyers have cost the city $1 billion per year in lost tax revenue. The money could have funded "10,000 new cops, 10,000 new firefighters, 10,000 new teachers," Deputy New York City Mayor Edward Skyler said. The United States says China is the No. 1 offender when it comes to counterfeit goods. Others include South Korea, Pakistan and India. The campaign, which starts on Monday, estimates the global trade in counterfeit goods at $650 billion per year including $80 billion in New York City alone. U.S. authorities have said one group sells counterfeit goods including fake Viagra to support the Lebanese group Hezbollah, which Washington lists as a terrorist organization. The group behind the 2004 train bombings in Madrid that killed 191 people was partly funded by the sale of illegal compact discs, |

Bruce, I get the feeling you don't have an issue with counterfeit watches :-)

This thread may be about to take a turn.... ! I would rather buy the best "real" watch I could afford than a FAKE name brand watch. I have spent many years building brands and it's a terrible thing to have your hard work copied. -Pete

Looks like a pretty normal 2836-2 (day & date) or other 28xx movement to me. Has the newer Novodiac Incabloc spring, and standard ETA layout.
The 2nd looks like either a modified ETA (e.g. The balance 'bridge' & lack of regulator) or a knock off of an ETA.
