New Member seeking advice

Hello, 1st post and looking for some advice. I ordered a Sub date 16610 just before Christmas from Tourneau. They said it would take 4 weeks to get. Well now I'm in week seven, so I give them a call. They say Rolex is not producing the current model, so I say well thats great why did you order me one then in the first place.
Well long story short the manager says I can get a refund on the deposit or wait and he will give me the new model when it comes out at the price I paid for the current one. Now I know Basel is in the end of March and he says they should have the new model before June. Thoughts?

Well it's up to you. If it's the old design that you really like, you can try here on the forum or at another AD. But if you think you will like the new design it's up to you.

Thanks for the advice. I dont know to much about the new model except the ceramic bezel and the possible bracelet update. In your opinion will the watch look similar to the current one.

I think it'll just look beefier, I prefer the old style better. But it's up to you.

the watch will look similar to the gmt2 ceramic.same case, same ceramic bezel but i don;t think it will have polished center links. it will be brushed. or it will look similar to the dssd. a small version of the dssd with cyclops.new clasp with micro adjustment like the new tt sub c..

I'm guessing it's the Time Machine Tourneau? I don't bother to go, I just don't like their service. You could probably get a better deal on the forum.

Refund... Buy it here from BodyBump, DavidSW, Jacek or other reliable sellers...

My 2 cents... I am a collector (...not a flipper) and I would only buy from ADs but my recent research and experience points out that there are trust worthy folks in THIS forum... Hard to say with the others.

I might try some local AD's to see about the current one. My thought now is if the new one comes out and it looks good the price probably will go up, so if I can get it at my price I paid It might work out for me.

I would tell Tourneau to go kick rocks... that's REALLY messed up what the way they did to you and it's piss poor customer service. I wouldn't give them 1 freaking nickel. It's a lot of money you're spending the least they can do is provide you with a freaking phone call.

That's good to hear that some Tourneaus are nice, the Time Machine in NYC isn't as good. I hope it works out for you!

Yazo Thats exactly how I felt when I called them today. I was like when were you going to call me and tell me this if I didnt call you. The manager then got on, He was very apologetic to me and said they thought they would be able to get it.
Then he said the new one should be here before June, but I have read on some posts here that it wont get out to fall

Getting in line for the new Sub would be nice, but I'd get it in writing from Turdneau. Since they gave you a 9% discount, it wouldn't be far fetched for them to sell the first ones above MSRP to those willing to pay ridiculous prices for the first models. I see them bumping you off until the buying frenzy eases.

Good luck!

He's full of it. I would pull your money out now dude, you're better off getting that watch through people like Mosco or DavidSW on here. I'm so sorry dude.

I'm sure you can find other AD's with a Sub Date in stock, I just purchased one earlier this month. "V" series 16610 Sub Date

Take your business somewhere else.
If they already screwed one thing up, chances are they will screw up again and again.
Save yourself the headache. Try to find it at another AD somewhere else, or check members here. I just have a feeling, whenever they do come up with this watch, you will not be 100% happy. good luck buddy

It is not a bad deal from a monetary standpoint. The new sub will cost at least as much as the GMT IIc ($7000 msrp) considering it has many of the same upgrades. It could even cost a good chunk more with the glidelock clasp. So you have the option to buy the new sub for $5460 when it's MSRP will likely be at least $7500+ considering glidelock and price increase. Also, they will be hard to come by at first and command a price premium to buy if your not at the top of an AD's list...

On the other hand, tourneau might not hold up it's end of the bargain and refund your money after earning interest on it for 6+ months, or wait to sell you one until the market for the new sub cools...

You need to first decide if you'd be happier with the new model, and then determine if you think they will actually take a $2000 loss on a watch that they will have a long waiting list for... seems too good to be true.

Correction: I guess it wouldn't be a "loss" but a loss of profit.

I would get it in writing about their offer to sell you the new version at the old price.Ensure you have a get out if you do not like the new version.

I would wait....only 4 weeks to go until Basel.....potentially you could do well out of this....if they keep to their word!!!!

If you do not like the new Sub....you do not have to go ahead with the offer....or you could flip it and then get the old version, and pocket some change!!!!

Doubt very much they will let you have the 116610 for the price of the 16610 . This story may soon change if you ask them to put it in writing .
