A Friday Night GTG in Adelaide!

After a long working week it is great to unwind. Im not sure it gets much better than a couple of enthusiasts getting together and discussing not much more than watches for a few hours over a nice dinner and drop of red wine.
For a group of six people, there was such a great array of watches on show and after everybody arrived, it didn’t take long for them all to come out & start circulating the table.

I start with Eddie’s box. He pretty much has all the bases covered - What a great collection!
I did notice the full set of stickers still on some of his watches which led me to ask him if he does indeed wear them all.

Next to me Arthur checks out the Explorer II. This has been on his wish list for some time. Here he holds it up to compare with his Daytona.

Here is Martin with a wristshot of his ExpII:

I think Eddie has it on in this pic.

Next up we have Steven sporting my DSSD – man that thing looks big!

After some time, our entrees came out & we had to clear the watches from the table. The waiter is putting some Parmesan on John’s pasta. Also in view are Martin’s oysters – kinda fitting to get oysters for such an occasion!

Ok, entrees are all done now and we can get back to watches. In this pic I think Martin is texting his wife telling her he just bought another watch. Hey, is that the Roo in the background…

This daydate was one of my favourites for the night. This watch had incredible presence & one gets the feeling that this one more than makes up for the lack of bling in the rest of John’s (jac67) mostly vintage collection.

Another beautiful daydate there belonged to Eddie. Although I didn’t get a chance to wear this one, I thought the dial is simply stunning! I really like the feel & heft of a solid gold watch.

Eddie also has a Milgauss GV - a very nice piece - size, looks, versatility, the list goes on... As Arthur will attest to, it wears so well.

I think there were 2 of these there that night – Im not sure if this bluesy belongs to Eddie or John. In any case, what a striking deep blue dial this one has.

Courtesy of John, we had some very fine grails at our dinner. Here is his 92 Comex Sub – what great condition this one is in.

It was interesting to see the collecting path John has taken over the years. He started off with OPs, Dates, Airkings & datejusts and then moved to acquiring what would be grails in most Rolex enthusiasts’ collections - he has owned a 6264 PN, DRSD, red sub amongst others. Here is his 5513 Milsub:

Eddie’s box of wonders doing the rounds.

A nice AK that I think belongs to Martin (correct me if im wrong Martin).

Finally, we got to eat some nice deserts.

After desert was done and dusted we cleared the table for a group shot.

At the end, we asked the waiter to take a photo of us. From Left to Right: Eddie (DirectionEng), Arthur (Athas), Just in front of Arthur is Steven, Iam next to Steven, Next to me is Martin (Rolex Man) & standing in front of Martin on the far right is John (Jac67).

Thanks for looking and to all the guys there, thanks for taking the time to come out and bring some of your nice watches for all to appreciate!

John

As there were such nice watches on our table, there was no need to see what others were wearing.
I think he glanced over a few times though. We actually planted him there as our security guard!!
