Group,

My MB LeGrand was fine and working in the air but was dry when I was on the ground in a meeting. Can air travel muck up the LeGrand? Maybe just a coincidence I suppose.

Can the LeGrand accept any other refill or adapter? I'm not thrilled with the rollerball and would like to try a ballpoint or fineliner even. Googling basically says no but you guys might have a secret or two to share.

Don't understand what you have exactly. LeGrand is the model and it has fountain pen, ballpen, rollerball as well as pencil. Which pen have you got?
If you got an fp, of course one can't change it to ballpen or roller.
If you got a ballpen, there is no rollerball refill option - not on Legrand anyway.
If you got a roller, same as ballpen - can't get refill to change it to ballpen.

I've been flying quite a bit with my FP's lately and have had no real issues. And I haven't been doing anything special. They seem to work fine.

Rollerball and fineliner refills often interchange fine. But the rollerball is more like a pen, and the fineliner is more like a fine marker. Rollerball and ballpen are not interchangeable. the lengths are not even the same. Fountain Pens are too different to even try. I do not know how flight altitudes change the refill, but mine can have some ink residue build up near the tip, maybe it has a small leak in flight. I always keep a refill pack in my breifcase, MB Rollerballs dry up quickly anyway.

Now THAT's what I'm looking for!

I didn't know that the LeGrand came in different types. This one is a rollerball. I was writing on the plane just fine but when I went into my meeting an hour later the pen was dead. I just wondered if the refill was susceptible to air pressure changes.

I think I'll take the advice of keeping refills around as this one went pretty quickly.

I've had no issues with my Lamy's... using refillable cartridges or Lamy cartridges. The tips dry out sometimes, but thats usually from "non use".
