Great GMT IIc deal going on over at the For Sale section

Wonder how long that watch is going to last before it gets snatched up...

The sale you speak of was removed and the seller banned!! It was a SCAM!

This just goes to show to all members here that you MUST do your homework before committing to any transaction.....Buy the seller first!

Now the moderators and other members here scour these posts all the time, however, due diligence is always the best course of action....

As much as TRF would like to say that the FS boards here are free of people wishing to fool you, that's not always the case....We do try our best, but can not except responsibility for the odd thief that floats through......

This is just a buyer beware...Please take note and be carefull!!!
When something is to good to be true,it usually is!

Having said that, there are many reputable sellers here and it's easy to search them out.
Go to the "Who's Who" section and search sellers with serious sales buy numbers of transactions completed.... If not, keep your guard up and proceed with caution always!

I didn't see the ad. Was it an obvious fake? Low post count. Blurry images. Papers? Or no papers? Thanks for looking out! :)

I was suspicious considering the price and exactly 35 posts, but Mods, how did you determine it was a scam?

Probable common sense. Let's not dwell on scammers.

Actually, it was a nice listing, so be careful!! These folks put out the carrot, and sometimes we, in our attempt to grab a good deal before someone else does, we throw caution out the door!

I came across it after it was posted, and of course the very low price got my attention. I happened to notice something in the url for the picture, that was a personally identifiable part of that url, which I googled, and based on what I saw, I reported it to the Moderators (Not sure if anyone else did, as well), who immediately jumped in, and based on seeing what I saw, and whatever else they could see, they then did what was appropriate.

I clearly stated my concerns and included links to evidence I saw outside TRF, and asked for the posting to be looked into more closely.

Thank goodness there exists a mechanism to report something that looks suspicious! I stated while I was not certain the listing was a scam, I definitely felt somethings was amiss, and I guess in this instance, I was correct.

We are lucky to have a team of Moderators who act so quickly in these situations!!

If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. A GMT IIC for $4500. I don't think so.

Something for nothing.... that's what we all have to watch out for.

Those are usually scams.
