Re The Newbs and Unboxing Pictures

I have had and sold a few watches to date including a 16570, PO8500, and I'm currently more or less pleased with my PAM112.

A lot of watch enthusiasts will say they wear a watch for personal satisfaction and not to show off or expect compliments. Then why is it that half of the forum is nothing but pictures of people unboxing their new watch and 5 pages of "stunning" "beautiful" "congratulations" "awesome" ad nauseum? It seems a bit self serving and childish. Almost like they need the ego-stroking but know they won't get it in public so have to come here to the forums to get it. 99.9% of the public doesn't know a Fossil from an AP and the 2 organic compliments a year aren't enough for a lot more people than will admit, I guess. "F- wits" as Archie would say.

Your observation is right and you made a good point. That said, members like to share their views with fellow members. I think watch aficianados like to do more of 'talking' by posting pictures!

After all, we are all humans first and TRF members next. Come on ...forgive us for our shortcomings if this makes you happy now:cheer

OP, it's a watch forum, we appreciate watches so when someone gets a new piece we commend and congratulate them for it.
There's plenty of information here to learn from, but there's also a lot of incoming threads. Maybe you should just stick to the informative threads.

Thanks dude!

Looking forward to some constructive and positive contributions to the forums.

Or, feel free to continue to make your wise observations, since you seem to think you have a lot of posters figured out in your brief time here.

In case you don't see the irony, your post comes across as self serving and childish.

Did your ego get stroked by insulting fellow "newbs"?

Please play nice.

This reminds me that the very safe, protective and friendly environment we all enjoy here on TRF is not an accident, it is the result of lots of thankless work by all of the moderators.

There are always idiots who will try and ruin things for the rest of us.

Thanks to the moderators here, they don't succeed. Respect to one and all!
