Deep Seadweller is massive!

Aloha everyone,
Well just back from a trip to Oahu over the weekend and stopped by the Rolex store in Ala Moana. Great people working there and an unbelievable selection of watches to drool over and try on. I have wanted to see and test the DSSD. Well it is an awesome site to hold and wear, however to me it is just to massive. The case is huge! Love the watch but it really is too large for my taste. Just my opinion. If you have one please take no offense to each his own. It would be further down the line in my wish lists of watches to purchase.

Now the white gold blue submariner WOW what a watch! I feel in love with it right then and there, however they wanted $36k plus for the watch ouch! My wife would kick my ass if I purchased that watch.

I LOOOOOOOOOVE the DSSD...but it's too big (too thick, really) for me to ever consider.

I still love it though!

There are many dive watches plus quite a few watches a lot bigger thicker heavier than the DSSD but being bigger heavier don't mean its always better.

I agree that it is too tall. I think if the base were bigger it might feel better and the wg sub is very nice! I don't have the patience to save up for it because there are too many less expensive models I want!

When I tried on a DSSD I also thought it was massive.

I found the diameter OK, but the height of the case was way too much for my wrist.

I have a Brietling superavenger.. and still the DSSD is too thick for me.. A little disproportional maybe? That's only me though..

I changed my 16600 up a bit (don't worry, original bracelet and bezel insert are safe and sound) and just love the way it came out. That's a blue Everest strap (1 of 10 made for 16600) and a bezel insert off the Bay (if anyone needs a nice trick on installing a bezel insert I found a great way of installing...I put the insert in the freezer for about 10 minutes and then put the bezel ring in a cup of boiling water for maybe 30 seconds. The temperature difference let me pop in the new insert without effort in about 2 secons flat).

I must admit though, after trying on the DSSD a few weeks back, I want one some day. I don't think it's wrong to like (or have) both. Hmm, now what to unload to justify the DSSD purchase??? I have a very nice vintage 1625 that rarely gets worn. It's a start!

I am loving my dssd, you do get used to the size, my only problem is the hulk keeps winking at me!

Recently saw the white gold sub and it is gorgeous! It was second hand and £13,000 so that's around $20,000 I guess - hated the fact it looked better in its box than it did on my wrist though! I have quite large arms and regrettably it didn't look right. Coupled with the fact I that I couldn't really afford I guess it was for the best, but beautiful watch though!

I actually really like the diameter and everything about the DSSD with the exception of the thickness. If they had shaved 4mm off of the height, I would still have one. That said there are many DSSD lovers who the height doesn't bother and it is a great size and look.

Hey errol0_7,
The hulk is an awesome watch. I guarantee you will love the watch if you get it. The green changes almost instantly from a sutle light green ti a vibrant shocking green, and then next time you look almost a black iridescent green. I love my hulk.
Go for it! You will not regret!. Just my 2 cent opinion.

I ABSOLUTELY love my DSSD. I have a Cartier Seatimer Chrono as well, and it is just as thick.

I will say I like the way my DSSD feels on my wrist better than a regular Sub. But then again, I like heavy watches.

I tried it on at a GTG and thought it was good diameter wise, very high, medium heavy and expensive in Oz.
The engineering is very impressive.

I have a medium 7.5" wrist and it has some overhang across the lugs.
It is one big puppy.

Love it, it is my new daily wearer.

It does take a little getting used to and now I don't want to wear anything smaller.

I am 6'1" and 210lbs with 7 3/4" wrists so I feel it works with my size.

I suppose if a watch is waterproof to 3000 meters, it will of necessity be massive. And what possible practical use could a watch with that depth rating be? Notice that all replies deal with how it looks, rather than its capabilities. With that in mind, I am happy with my Sub.
