Sounds like you know what you really think.
Neither is on my wish list, but of the two I would take the DJ.

Get the SS Daytona. Gold DJ only if it came with a gold bracelet.

SS I dont like the look of gold and the business casual dress I wear at work and the shorts and jeans I wear on the weekends. But I also brushed out my Daytona to make it less Bling!

Hmm, that's a really tough choice. I love the Daytona but I also love gold watches, I'm just not so keen on straps. If it's WG like your avatar, I'd probably go with the SS Daytona but it's a tough call.

SS Daytona, agree with accce, gold is too formal for some places. I live in Oregon where a gold watch would be considered garish

That's like saying that at the end of the day a 300,000.00 home is just a pallet of lumber In reality at the end of the day a DJ is still a DJ and a Daytona is still a Daytona |

Well in general today when buying most gold watches at retail you will loose quite a bit of the value to price paid. While the SS sports type models in general like say the Daytona will keep the largest proportion of there price paid. And in general its the SS sports models in most any reference that will be more collectible than say any of the DJ range today.Although not a fan of any precious metal watches or the modern day Daytona its the Daytona I would choose

Most likely because they have roots in the community, it is home. Look how many people move to San Francisco, one of the most beautiful cities in America and also a ticking time bomb for a huge earthquake

One is a sport watch and the other a dress watch. Really depends on what you prefer. Personally, I like sport watches. Also, I am not a big strap fan. I will wear on occasion. With a strap you really need to be aware of environment you are wearing a strap as sweat will mess it up fairly quickly.

If we're talking a vintage gold DJ, of course. If not, neither. I'm not much for gold and the Daytona leaves me cold. If I had to have a chrono, I'd have a Speedmaster.

As always....buy what sings to you. For me it would be the DJ on leather. Simple reason is that I personally do not care for the Daytona. There's just way too much going on.

Good point, since I picked up a Victorinox a few years ago with 3 sub dials, I have gone only for the simple, clean looks in my better watches. That's why, of all models in the Rolex line, the Daytona just doesn't do it for me. It's muscular looking, and the complications are impressive, but, like you said, too much going on.
