Calling out for ap expert!

Hi this is my first post on this web..I'm in a bit of a dilemma and need help from u expert out here. I've recently got a budget available and I was so certain that my mind was made on a 5980 white dial at a unbelievably low price. This was until I stop by an ap store and saw a Schumacher ti. I know both are very different type of watch but I did fell in love with both of them in a different way. My judgement in the end would however come down to which of these model will retain price better. In my own experience Patek tend to hold its value very well but I have no knowledge on the le piece for audemar. Any opinion or advise would be greatly appreciated thank u

It's true that overall Patek does hold it's value better over time, but if you look at some of the more popular AP LEs (RB2, EOD, Alinghi Team etc), they all have held or gained value. I would put the Schumi in that category as well.
I like the 5980, but LOVE the Schumi. That would be my choice.

Good luck!

I'm not an expert, but this is my opinion.

The 5980s are a fairly common piece as far as I can tell. They appear to be fairly easily found below retail value new. The white dial version is also the least popular, and as such is the least in demand. I actually love the grey dial version and have considered getting one.

The Schumi Ti sells at or above retail new and is in high demand. I don't think it will lose value over time because of the high level of interest people continue to show in it. Besides, it is a gorgeous watch and only 1000 will be made and sold. If it calls out to you more than the 5980, you should definitely follow your heart on this one IMO. I own the RG and Ti Schumis.

Tough choice....
For the long run, I believe pp will hold its value better
But for design, I like Schumi more. And you really do not see Schumi often now in boutique now
And what's in your collection now? Cause they both wear very differently

Thank u for all your kind advise.. am leaning leaning more toward the schumi now because the more I look at it the more it seems to sing to me. But I'm reluctant because as I say the price offer on the white 5980 is incredibly low almost 7k lower than the schumi and I already got a panda and a bumble bee in my collection but then again I also have the 5726a too. So for variety I figure the Schumacher will have more to offer in term of the different material..I'm just worry about its long term price that's all

It is lower in price because it is not in demand. The Schumi is in demand, so its price is higher. A more in demand watch will maintain value better (or even accrue value), especially if it is limited in production (this is basic supply and demand). Don't be fooled by the ostensible "good deal" into thinking you are getting a better deal than you really are.

What will make you more happy? Having the watch you love aesthetically, or having the watch that you like only because you think you got a bargain on the price?

You have two ROOs so how about the blue 5980?

Buy what you want instead of value weightage.

Keep in mind that the 5980 is now discontinued.

That it is discontinued and hasn't popped in value is likely not a great sign IMO.

It was never that popular to begin with.

That's a no-brainer: I would definitely go with the 5980.
Although I'm an RO fan I don't understand why anyone would prefer a ROO like the schumi over an incredibly beautiful watch like the 5980.

The 5980 will also keep it's value much better imho.

Hope this helps.

To me the 5980 is so much plainer looking than the Schumi. Not even close it my book. It would be the Schumi for me.

Schumi hands down. Best AP in so many ways on the market right now IMHO.

5980 is okay, but not really popular and was recently discontinued. Wouldn't touch it from a resale standpoint.
