Anyone Else See the Future of the Daytona in the Rolex YachtMASTER II Stainless Stee

The more I look at ther Rolex YachtMASTER II Stainless Steel with the blue Ceramic bezel the more I see the future Daytona. Not sure how I would feel about the dial growing to 44mm other than it would be easier to read.


Just stay away from the addition of thr date as it is not part of the watches history.

Thoughts ?

I'm no expert but would be shocked if Rolex grew their Daytona to 44. 42 may def be considerations along with their Sub line. But I also admire Rolex for not chasing everyone else in the "biggest blingy +$10,000 watch" category.

Meh who woulda thunk the Porsche GT3's would only come in PDK (flappy paddle).

form follows function for Porsche, if its faster its better to them and believe me the PDK is faster

Absolutely agree with you tk. But to the old fashioned in me...

A racer like urslef, while clearly understands the progression, musta squirmed a smidge when they said no manual for the GT cars. I could be wrong, as I'm not right that often.

I've developed an even higher respect for u sir. In a field of sequential/dual clutch cars and lap times ur rowing gears in a cup car. Sorry to derail this thread. But in today's day and age that's just awesomsauce. I'm not around cup cars much but have only ever seen sequential setups. U my friend r badass.

I'm not sure how they could improve on design (I guess they wouldn't have to). My eyes would appreciate bigger sub dials and hands that have high contrast with the dial behind them. But that sounds like the Omega Speedmaster moon watch, and I don't like that hand wind antique (unless it's a vintage piece).
I could see a 44mm case and cerachrome bezel, but that might be too big for me personally. After wearing so many different watches over 30 years, I like the 40mm Daytona. The best size for me personally has been at 42mm (remembering the supreme comfort of the IWC Porsche Design Titan chrono-best 7750 ever!)
I could also envision a date window without a cyclops. Put it at 6, maybe even 12 if there's room with all that writing. Or move the writing down to 6 à la DeepSea Blue. I liked the date at 12 on my vintage Movado with the Zenith El Primero movement.
Whatever/if ever Rolex changes on the Daytona, we'll have 50% love it, and the other 50% bitch about some imaginary travesty, then grow to love it like the rest of the group.

I could get behind this, but I love the way light reflects off of my SS bezel.

I really hope they don't change the size or add a date. If they do, I'll be keeping the one i have.

44mm is very unlikely but 42mm might be a possibility as could be a 40mm maxi case.

I don't see them going beyond 42 mm, as it's just too big. I can see Rolex doing dial & hand tweaks to make them more legible to older eyes.

Nothing wrong with the current size. Don't really understand why some people feel a larger watch is a better looking watch. If it isn't broken, don't fix it.

I've been holding off on the Daytona because I'm waiting for a revamp. But I've been slowly drawing towards the YMII because of its size and the ceramic bezel.

I love the YG YMII. After getting the new DSSD it's the only logical progression. As far as the mythical 44mm Daytona II, I'd like to see it before passing judgement.
