How scratchproof is the BEZEL of the Ceramic GMT-II?

That's right, guys.

How great an impact can this ceramic bezel take before it shows up a scratch?

Now that there are a number of users out there, surely quite a few of you must have had some dings and bangs.

So, has the ceramic bezel come up with any scratch or abrasion?

Cheers - JJ

To be honest, a scratchproof bezel doesn't really mean that much to me. Its not the part of the watch that gets scratched the most IMO. Now a scratchproof bracelet, thats a different story!!!!

For a scratchproof BRACELET, I'd have to get a RADO; but I'd rather be dead first!!

What's up with Rados?

I think Rado is the Rolex for rich people who don't want to be bothered by mechanical watch (need winding, etc).

RADO do make automatic watches too......but their designs are simply awful!!

I wouldn't say it would stand up to the abuse of one of these

But from what I've heard they are virtually scratch proof.

Here is what happened to me

One day i was at the city center and was walking on the street. Then a woman passed next to me and hit my watch so hard with her watch that i thought that the bezel would definetely be scratched. Of course i was furious and she apologized then i took a look at my watch and everything was ok no scratch

To be honest the hit was really hard

Well, 4 months out, I see no visible scratches or dents or anything else that could be considered an imperfection. Then again, I'm not up for testing it just to satisfy JJ's curiosity.

I still wonder JJ, why didn't you get a TT GMTIIc instead of the platty? You've been raving about it for almost a year. Prices are comparable.

The bezel on my 16600 never gets scratched.

Why?

BECAUSE IT NEVER ITCHES

At the time, Platty did appeal a helluva lot to me......and still does. If and when I buy the TT GMT-IIC, it will be my SECOND Rolex......and I shall once more become a 2-Rolex man!!

i hope all your wishes come true, JJ.

I think I've seen only one post regarding a scratch on the IIC bezel...so I suppose they're holding up 99% of the time.

GMTII-c bezel is scratch proof! I tried for hours to scratch mine(huh?) and the watch just sat there and said, 'is that the best you can do sucker?' and that was that.

I'm guessing a diamond, moissanite and maybe a sapphire/ruby could scratch it. It could shatter too. Anyone know its actual hardness?

JJ,

I've had my GMT-IIC TT since September, 2007. The bezel is still pristine - same as it was new out of the box - not a mark or scratch. The bracelet does show signs of wear - but hey, I wear it.
