Rolex and Ever-rose Gold, Few Q's

Firstly i would like to thank TRF for making me contemplate my first precious metal Rolex piece and now on to some questions:

1) I have recently tried on the Rolex Daytona 116505 in rose gold which i am very keen on, and for some reason to me it weighed a lot more than the GMT pepC i tried on which was White Gold? Is that correct or was i just hallucinating? If so, is the WG Daytona same weight as the Rose Gold?

2) The second piece i am considering is the Rolex DD2 218235 with Ruby and diamond dial, as much as i love the watch, i don't want to buy it (from TD on TRF of-course) and then IF i want to sell it for whatever reason, i make a huge loss on it. To be honest i don't mind making a loss as thats just the game but i don't want to lose loads! Also is their a demand for the R & D dial? Don't see many on FS section at all.

3) the Third piece i am contemplating is the Rolex WG-Sub 116619, but then i already have the Hulk and a BLNR and a kermit so is there even point in getting another Sub? Tbh i think I've answered my own question....

Thanks in advance for the help guys

Regards

Sayub

Buy the Daytona, nicest watch of the bunch. Rose Gold Daytona weighs less than a PEPC but maybe by 20 grams max.

For the day date 2....pass. Nice watch but gets easy to tire of diamond dials.

The RG Daytona and BLRO weigh about the same to me

If was going to pick one of your options I would go WG sub, it is definitely an amazing piece! Of course so are the other two!

Tom, would you care to elaborate on why you would pick the sub in PM over the Daytona? I'm curious, since you're a big enthusiast for the Daytona! Both are amazing, of course.

Cheers!

There should be little difference in weight between WG and RG.
However, the case on a GMT is thicker with wider lugs than found on a Daytona.
I would go RG Daytona with RG dial and brown sub-dials (i.e. Paul Newman effect).
That is it, go for it, you will not lose if you buy right.

As you have those SS sport models I would go for the DDII, for a slightly dressier/classier alternative, plus the president bracelet is the best there is imho. As you know I preferred the choco dial and if you think you might sell it later then the diamond dial will probably be harder to sell. Anyway as always the best advice is to go with whichever makes your heart sing the loudest, mate.

If you already have the Subs why not get the DDII but pick a different dial. I own the DDII in YG with the white roman numerals and like it very much.

The above picture was very enabling and one reason to push me to get one exactly. I am glad I purchased one. That being said, the WG Sub had been a great purchase. How can one go wrong with any precious metal Daytona. I was close to getting the RG once. Be sure to try on your stated options and go with the one that YOU like the most.

The black dial would be my first choice of Daytona. On my radar.

The chocolate dial is hard to tell time on (IMHO). The ceramic bezel is sick though. Hoping next year Rolex will release a RG Daytona with ceramic bezel and RG bracelet. The RG DD2 presidential is hard to pass up though.

The Daytona is certainly whats on my mind right now! However the DD2 diamond and ruby dial works so well its extraordinary! But most likely ill be going for the 116505 :) Cheers

Thank You Tom, Sir. I just feel as if i have enough 'Diver' Watches and so I've ruled out the possibility of the WG Sub or even the YG sub. But thank you, Cheers.

Aaaah i see, thanks for that, it makes a lot more sense. The particular 116505 that had my attention is the one with black dial and gold sundials - That is a stunner for sure.

Thanks for that, however the WG sub is no longer an option for me :) Cheers

I completely agree with you, the president bracelet is phenomenal! But if i was to go for a DD2 it would be in D&R dial or the ivory dial. My heart is confused right now between two watches hahah.

Thats the thing, I've ONLY tried on a RG Daytona with black dial and it was amazing! I haven't tried on a DD2 in rose gold so i will need to try both on to come to a conclusion, however there is another contender now *sigh* The JLC Duometre...

X2! The DDII with diamonds and rubies is absolutely stunning. I'm strongly considering it myself.

From the collection ur mentioning u have y not go for theDDII, which looks completely different from your current watches? If you don't want to go for the diamond dial just go for the RG without diamonds or the YG. Here's mine
