Chrono24- Reputable Source?

Hi All,

I am usually accustomed to searching for a pre-owned watch on TZ and right here on TRF from our trusted dealers. I have tried on WUS a couple of months ago, but came across a few scams (that's another story for another time!)

However I was searching Chrono24 over the New Years holiday, and found a couple of pieces at the right price. The only thing is the sellers are from out of the country (one from Turkey, one from Denmark)

I am just not sure how safe/reputable Chrono24 is as I have no idea how to vet the sellers. They are not personal watches, so the photos are professional looking. I am usually very careful with large online purchases, so I just wanted to see if anyone on TRF has experience using Chrono24 on a watch purchase.

If anyone has any advice I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!

Chrono24 is like any other forum. There are good and bad and you need to buy the seller. Some of them are the same as here or on ebay. Re. the prices you see there: Just deduct 20% ab ovo to get to the righjt price level to start with.

As an example of why you need to be careful on Chrono or even seemingly reputable auction sites....

Thanks. So does "Trusted Seller Since XXXX" mean anything here? I was going by that to see who I should contact. Also some guys have actual brick and mortar stores which is helpful.

I've never bought from Chrono24 but have heard some sketchy stories from buyers who have used the site. As I understand, the "trusted seller" status is basically meaningless, and you get zero help from the site if there's an issue. Lastly, if you're located in USA and plan on getting a watch shipped to you from abroad---well, just don't.

This.

Trusted seller is complete BS. If you have a problem with a seller C24 will leave you hanging in the wind. Even if you raise an issue against a seller the seller will still show on C24 as perfect history, no problems etc.

Only use C24 to find a watch from a seller you can go pick it up from in person imo.

Chrono is big in Europe. Unfortunately, that makes it somewhat difficult to buy through if you are in the US and the seller is in Europe. There are some really well known and established sellers who sell through Chrono. It is worth it to take your time and do your due diligence. However, as southtexas said, do not expect any help from Chrono if you are defrauded or hit with a scam.

As you're in the US I would go with a trusted trf seller. I would only buy in person from chrono24 so if I saw one in Italy I would fly out, but would rather use a UK reseller and pay a bit extra.

I am a 1st time seller located in the U.S. and just listed my Triple 6 matte seadweller on there while I am waiting for paypal to link bank account to donate and list on here. I am worried like you (but from the seller's side), I put down U.S. only and that I preferred someone from my state of florida. I think it protects buyer and seller if we go to a major's or other to have validation before money changes hands. Especially since some rolex's can reach large price tags. Did notice that a lot of dealers here, so i expect to weed out the dealer/flipper offers from the fair offers. But majority of people on here from my short experience on here are Great!
