BLNR or old Daytona

I know this place is littered with Threads just like this, but please play along. I also understand that the right answer is "whichever one you like best "and all that good stuff.
I wouldn't be asking this question if it were an easy choice because I love both watches. So here goes ...right within my budget I have an opportunity to purchase an old Zenith movement Daytona white face, or a new BLNR. I really like the look of both watches, and I like the idea of having an older style Daytona that they no longer make, but I also like the idea of having a brand-new in the box BLNR that I can wear and make my own over the years.
So which would you choose and why? Thanks very much for the input

Porcelain Dayton? If so, I'd take it over the BLNR. The Daytona value will go up, BLNR price won't go up for some time

+1 I agree with this. I have 13 in my collection, 10 modern, 3 vintage and the BLNR is the one I wear the most. I would love to add a vintage Daytona to my collection, but I suspect it would end up "part of the collection", (and perhaps, an investment), not my every day watch.

Sounds like you'll eventually get both, so I'd suggest getting the Daytona first as you'll likely have more trouble finding one later on

I guess it also comes down to what else you have. I am one of the few who does now fawn over the BLNR (I would take my Root Beer everyday, but I know I am in the minority), so for me it would be Daytona. But as you have said it is what sings to you. The Daytona will be a better long term investment I suspect. Just saw the two new posts above and agree with both. Zenith Daytona will be harder to get in the future, but it would probably not suit as only watch.

You don't have a GMT in your collection it appears and you have a chrono I'd say get the blnr maybe? I personally love the daytonas also they are simply exquisite and timeless that's what I'd get - not an easy choice get the best price deal you possibly can then pick up the other later. Oh SS daytonas also retain pretty much 90% of their value on resell/trade so that's also a good consideration.

Blnr. It looks awesome and is an everyday casual and dress watch. Not to mention in high demand and desire by many right now. Im sure u will get plenty of complimemts when wearing it.

I'd get the Daytona for sure. You can always find a Blnr. But a good vintage Daytona that meets your standards......

I agree with you in that the Zenith Daytonas will become harder to find with time. The BLNR will be easier to find with time and pretty soon will be available with a discount.

Zenith Daytona for me and especially in the A or P serial where they were discontinued. I like the brushed lugs and color of the mini dials better versus the modern day 116520.

If I may ask, I assume that the Zenith Daytona that you, guys, are referring to is the stainless version. What if it was the two tone Zenith Daytona version, which would you choose between it and the BLNR?

I started this thread and have not purchased either yet. I decided to grab an old polar explorer II for now to get a white dial in the rotation. I really still want the white dial Daytona, and will likely get one soon.
As to your question the two tone Daytona does nothing for me, so in that equation I would get the GMT

I would say BLNR, because you have no GMT.
But it seems like the Daytona with the white dial is calling for you.
Congrats on the Polar Explorer II purchase.
I've always liked the look and the versatility of the piece.
