Struggling with next Rolex decision
Hello All,
I have been struggling for months deciding my next Rolex which I want to wear all the time as my daily workhorse. Here is my problem: 1) Hulk - concern: might be too green and fun for me to wear in all settings. I'm typically wearing black or navy blue business attire 2) DSSD - concern: not sure about height and maybe too sporty (in dimensions) for my daily attire. May immediately evolve into my sporty/fun watch, which I have enough. 3) SDC4K - concern: too much like submariner, visually looked odd on my wrist. 4) Sub/date - concern: not unique enough 5) Daytona C - concern: 2017 is too far away 6) Date-just - concern: too blingy 7) New Air King - concern: not as good of an overall package as 1-6. Currently have a BLNR. I have tried on all but the Daytona-C. I want to replace my current workhorse (POXL 2500) and I'm having a really hard time. Thoughts? |

Explorer 2. Smooth bezel datejust is not blingy.

Maybe, I struggle with the crown size for the Explorer II - looks too small.

You will be surprised how well the Hulk goes with many outfits.
Give it a shot, I think that is your winner right there. If not the SD4k is perfect, not quite a Sub, but has certain details that set it apart such as matte dial, HEV valve and really tall crystal which I love! If you do not like my idea- Check out the 39mm OP. Dressy but brushed bracelet so low on the bling factor, and works with any attire. |

since you like your BLNR so much and the con's listed in all the other models are valid, I'd think this is an opportunity to explore another brand.

Yes, I've toyed with the idea of AP, JLC, Panerai and IWC. For the price and quality, it is difficult to beat Rolex which is why I always come back to Rolex. For my workhorse purposes, I think there are diminishing returns once I start exceeding 12k for SS, and I'm not ready to go PM for my workhorse. |

Get the datejust. You already have a sports Rolex in your BLNR and it's going to be similar to any sub/seadweller out there in looks, so to differentiate I would go Datejust from your list. But I would also consider the Explorer I or II.

I'd get the Hulk, you have the BLNR for quieter moments.

Daily workhorse sounds like a job for a sub IMO.....so either the lv or the date/no date. Not a fan of the datejust for the most part because of fluted bezels and the air king is......pass. I would like to 2nd the idea posted above that's not on your wrist, the Explorer 2's either the 16570 or the 216570 are great daily watches that's more heavy duty...something to think about.

Not all datejusts are blingy, great thing about it is that there are so many different variations...

I vote Sub Date as daily workhorse. I would also advise against black business attire....unless you're a waiter. Stick to shades of blue and grey.

Try a Datejust TOG like I just did. I thought it balances sport and dressy! My $.02

Make BLNR as a daily and get a PM. BLRO or Smurf as the one for special occasions. What about white gold Daytona?

Maybe a YM blue dial?
It would compliment your BLNR nicely. |

Hulk or SD. People suggest the Exp II but you have a GMT. Diversify colors and tools is my suggestion. at a glance the SD and Sub LN are very similar, but they wear very different and a close look reveals the differences: thickness, dial is matte, bezel graduations, escape valve, smaller lugs. I think you'll see it as a very different watch compared to a Sub if you choose it.
Edit: and a watch without PCL's would be a good addition to PCL watch. |

39mm explorer I would be great for an everyday wearer. Not blingy at all, great size, fixed the hands. What's not to love?
