Age when obtaining first Patek

So how old were you when you got your first Patek? whether this be through heirloom or through a purchase

The heirloom one always interested me as it would be nice to kind of know how old children would have go be before handing down watches and jewellery

Thanks

Well the comfort of the 2 Nautilus I had, then flipped for investment purposes, but some PP's are coming in the next months, and the AP ceramic diver, that I still have, totally killed Rolex and Pam for me, had the impression of wearing bricks after the PP and couldn't stand it, flipped 4 Rolex and 3 Pams, like was said I would go AP now, ROO, and 5711 in a few years, they're just lightyears ahead of Rolex and Pam, unthinkable really the difference is huge...

Well you must be the luckiest guy on the planet, I guess your AD was on a remote island? Usually most AD's had such demand for the 5131 that their best clients got them, not guys who never bought a single PP...

my kid will have a few watches, Omega Seamaster medium size, Tag, and Cartier Santos Dumont also medium size, all these from 14 to 18, and when he will finish university, basically in around 16 years, he will get my AP ce diver, but the 2 PP's I have coming in the next months, and the one which should arrive in around 1 year, plus the very special piece I should get from an independent next year, will stay with me until my death, but maybe before then I will sell one day 2 of the PP's to fund something, if I have 1 PP and the one from the independent I'll be the happiest guy on the block, going up in numbers, but in the past I had a hard time to wear more than 2-3 pieces, couldn't stand pieces not being worn, so I flipped them, we'll see...

Can't believe you got a 5131 as your first, always heard it was maybe not an application piece, or is it, but at least given only to serious customers, it is quite amazing, did you know the AD really well or did you buy it on the grey market?

I have posted about this elsewhere but basically I ordered a G in late 2008 knowing my chances were slim, local AD (never purchased anything from them before) was great and kept me in the loop. Read your story before, but that is awesome and gives us all some hope!

This thread is very funny BTW!

I was 33 years young and consider myself a very lucky person. So many out there are thinking about much more pressing matters at a young (and old) age....

Am I also correct in stating that the AD allocation also needs to co e into play. When I was speaking to them on the 5930 they explained how the LE was allocated out of Geneva on a combination of number of watches owned who take priority and then the AD's. A balancing act between AD's that sold lots and needed to be kept sweet along with the smaller AD who just never received any special allocations due to size. In the latter scenario they make a AD allocation and the first person on that list at the AD gets it. This is slightly different to LE where Geneva controls the list and thus works down it in a methodical manner.

Hopefully soon but want to find one that I really like and will get wrist time. I'm confident I'll get one before 40 (next 6 years). Almost pulled the trigger a few times but others were higher on the list. Hopefully Patek comes up with a must have for the 40th anniversary of the nautilus.

Wow quite cool that some here got them at 20 something, at 20 I was more thinking of partying, did have a Breathing, Omega and Cartier though, but no where near Patek prices, then I thought of investing what I was making, so my first was at 43, can't believe I'm gonna be 45 this year, I hate the day of my birthday since I turned 40, can't believe I'll be 50 in 5 years, I'll surely be in a great mood that day
