Will later aluminum inserts fade over time?
Wondering whether anyone has any thoughts on whether later produced (2000's era) Rolex aluminum bezel inserts will fade/age over time. I think the inserts from the 60's-70's, for example, were less well made and might not have had the same UV protection built in as the newer ones. Obviously they would fade if exposed to strong chemicals, but I'm wondering more about natural fading over time.
Thoughts? |

All aluminum/steel bezels will fade (to a certain degree) over time. I personally like the character added once it starts fading. If you prefer to have an everlasting shine (and scratch resistancy), then the new ceramic bezel is what you need.

I bought a 2006 16710 from the original owner last year, and the Pepsi insert had faded to a pinkish red, as pictured:
