trade SS daytona for diver?

Hey guys, would you trade a random serial, March 2015, complete kit, SS 116520 black dial for an AP diver I serial? The AP has papers but no box. Would you trade straight? Would you add money on top of the daytona? Would you not trade? Appreciate some opinions and thoughts! Never owned an AP before...

thinking strictly numbers and leaving emotions aside (I understand this is the AP sub-forum), how much money would it make sense to put on top, if any? Keep in mind the daytona is full kit and 1.5 years left of warranty and the AP doesn't have boxes.

Money aside. Nope, assuming you are the original owner of the Daytona because you know the watch and if it has issues. The AP may not be a watch without issues.

I bought the daytona from the original owner a month or two ago. I've had RSC give it a pressure test, etc. and has 1.5 years of warranty left. I'm very much leaning towards keeping the daytona because he wants 2k on top.

I believe the market for an I-serial diver that is complete is around $13-14k. Without a box, you'll have to deduct some. What's the market value on your daytona?

I guess at the end of the day I'm not a huge fan of the diver as much as I am a fan of a rubberclad for example, or a 44 chrono (which I can't afford)

I would trade for the Diver in a heartbeat just to feel AP's level of quality and finishing. I'm not a fan of subdial rings so the Daytona doesn't really appeal to me, even the D500 is thus resistable. Also once you have the Diver you will move heaven and earthly bank accounts to get that 44, which is def the way to go.

Agree, not a fan of the Daytona and I don't get the hype behind them.

I would 100% do that deal!

In a heart beat. Dayton wears really small, and once you start to really look at the diver, you will understand what all the AP fuss is about. Having had the diver, it is probably the most comfortable watch I've worn.

The most I would add would be $1000 because the box is pretty important to me. That said, you already mentioned that you aren't really a fan of the diver. If you don't like it, don't make the trade.

The box is just a box, buy one on eBay if it matters to you... Having the booklets is much more important IMO.

Is this the new diver, or the old one? Is there any warranty left on the AP?

I would for sure tho.

Tough one...

Straight trade you would benefit, as they Diver is worth more.

But, I've owned both watches in the past and think the Daytona is the one to keep out of those two.

If you love the Diver more, go for it, maybe even adding some cash to the deal.

never understood how people maintain the booklets but not the box. i always keep the booklets and papers in the box so if i lose one i lose them all.

A friend of mine is an AD, many people leave the boxes behind.

For the regular customer it's just like buying shows, who wants the box to throw it away at home?

Most people are oblivious to the pre-owned watch market, the believe watches are worthless once used...

I personally keep my B&P, look for them when I'm buying used, but if the watch and the price is right I can look past not having them.

I don't particularly care about B&P, as long as the price reflects it, but I've read (a sticky on here) which said that B&P are a big deal on AP's when reselling.

straight trade I'd do it, but adding 2k I'm not convinced. Was also offered a complete rubberclad for 12.7k, which seems like a better deal?

The BOOKLETS are important, you said they're there. The boxes are not married to a particular watch like the booklets are. Buy a box on eBay if u need one.

Straight trade? Good luck with that one.

The boxes alone on eBay are $500+... I think offering $1000 and his Daytona is a fair trade.

Why isn't the box comes with the diver? I mean in most cases we will keep the papers together in the box. Ok, nevermind about the box, what papers are those? The AP instructions and warranty booklets? Or, the seller's invoice which they will claims that watch with papers. Be very careful as the fake diver are very very well copied! Unless, you are buying from a reputable preowned dealer then there is nothing to be worried about, it's only the price you need to consider on how much you need to top up and are you getting a good trade-in value for your Daytona. Other then that, it's a Big Yes to swap your Daytona to AP diver!

2K seems steep for the deal. I would offer 1K best and final offer.
