1970 Tudor Jumbo
Hi Guys,
I can't believe I got away from the forum nearly two years! I came back on after a friend sold me a 7024/0 oysterdate last night. I had no bracelet for it so I threw it on a handmade job. What do you think and thanks for looking! |

Love the jumbos, I think they are very underrated. Great strap and beautiful watch you have there.

Thanks for sharing about your Jumbo's Guys. They look really smart and understated. The timekeeping is rather good on mine so far. How about yours?

So much warmth and character in these dials. Here's mine from 1969: |

Sorry to resurrect this thread and thanks for sharing your Jumbos.
Just wondering, are the handset for the Jumbo still readily available from Rolex? I have the 9080/0 Jumbo, which has the same hands as most of the models in this post. Thanks! |

I'd seek to source a set of vintage hands instead. Good luck with it! |

Yeps. I was thinking that (mismatch) also. However, I do have a Jumbo with the white dial that’s in really good, original condition, so a newer set of hands may not clash too much. Actually, looking at the hands again, they aren’t in bad shape. Moisture marks (don’t know what they’re called) are the primary issue. Lume is still in tact. I’ll see if watchmaker can ‘tidy up’ the hands instead. Thanks! |

Jumbo lume is famously crumbly. It's fallen out of the last two Tudor Date-Days I've had... It's a real pain because it gets into the movement, so you have to pay for a full movement service AND hand reluming. |

I miss Carver. This old thread shows some of his great contribution to the community. Still feels weird that he's not around anymore. RIP, friend.

I've been enjoying reading this post.... I bought my watch in 1970 and have worn it ever since. Rolex had it for service a few times in the "early years" , like 25 years ago. In the last 25 it's been serviced locally. The crystal has been replaced probably 4 times over the years along with o rings, other than that it still runs like a charm. The numbers on the bezel lost thier black paint a long time ago. I just have an after market braclet on it now as the original and the diving expansion strap are stretched to the point where I don't trust them

What’s a good aftermarket bracelet for the Jumbo?
While it would be nice to have my Jumbo on a 7836, and I do have a saved search going on eBay, but current prices of the bracelet are insane! Thanks! |

Is there a regular rolex case back out there to fit the 9080 case?
