Ultra sonic cleaning for Bracelets

Hey guys,

Do you think there is any risk in ultra sonic cleaning a Rolex bracelet only? I'm thinking about the screws that hold the extra links in. Any chance of them becoming lose?

I have been using an ultra sonic cleaner for the past 6 years cleaning my watch bracelets and have never had a problem with screws or pins loosening. I usually clean them about once every 1.5 - 2 months. In my opinion it's the best way to get the bracelets clean of all the built up gunk. I always seperate the bracelet from the watch head.

Cartier used to put my whole Cartiers in their Ultrasonic cleaner, head included. Now I wonder if that it why they needed to be serviced so frequently. Hmm.

Do you guys use a jewelry cleaning solution or plain water? I've only used plain water and it's worked alright, though my bracelets were not that dirty. Wonder if jewelry cleaner gets the unseen areas better...

You could use some dishwashing liquid which will remove most of the skin grease. Then use some warm water to rinse it off well.

I've tried a few drops of Dawn in the us cleaner, but can't tell if it helps. For what it's worth, I read somewhere that adding soap to an ultrasonic makes it harder for the water to develop the micro bubbles that do the cleaning and that either de-gassed plain water or jewelry cleaner is best.

The RSC where I did my internship does it, and so does my watchmaking school. You could definitely be right though, I don't know. Just sharing my experience and I found that it works, and I've seen some nasty bracelets.

I have been cleaning my watches with my wifes US cleaner and no issues.

I put the entire watch in the basket and use cleaning solution.

Watch comes out sparkling clean and I have not had any issues with the watches
