Common rolex questions

When people recognize your Rolex and ask ''is it real?''

if you say yes it usually is followed by ''how much?''

Do you get tired of answering this?

Welcome to the forum.

In 30 years of wearing Rolex, I have never had someone ask me if my watch is real. Never had anyone outside of a close friend who was genuinely interested ask what it costs. So not sure where you are hanging out but this should not be a real issue.

One time- some 12 yr old kid at the mall said, "say man, that a real Rolex"? I then said, "nah bru, but don't tell". Had to have a little fun....

In approximately twenty years of wearing a Rolex I've only had one person comment on it and he was a D'bag of the first order who said "nice watch" in a vaguely threatening manner. Other than that one instance in my experience most people just don't notice watches and the people that do notice are probably wearing nicer watches than me and don't say anything.

That and do your friends, or whoever is asking you wear a watch?

It may just stick out in your social circle. No biggie, just tell them you like watches. If they press on about the cost, tell them everything is on the internet.

We were all younger.

Perhaps it's the crowd you hang with? Or, maybe just a sign of the times when it seems OK for somebody to wear a knock-off.

Very few folks that I frequent would even think that a watch I wore would not be authentic.. Still, almost nobody really notices what kind it is.

If the situation is appropriate - I try to compliment a Rolex owner.

Never had either question. Only some "nice watch" compliments here and there. I'm mid-late 40s and have been wearing Rolex watches for about 16 years.

The most common question i get asked is do you wanna sell it?, Seems everytime i'm in a watch store or jewelry store they owner always wants to buy my watch lol.

I was on a job interview the other day, very casual. We met at a coffee shop and i was wearing jeans and a hoodie and he spotted my 16613 blue and asked me if it was real, i said yes and he complimented me and said it' a really nice watch. It's the only time ive ever been asked about one of my watches.

I would ask the person if they know what a real rolex looks like and that if they did, they would not have to ask. Back in 2012, the grandmaster of my dojo asked me if my rolex sub-c date was real after I got dressed post a training session. He was a great guy and had never had a student who wore one. I just said yea and let him check it out and put it on. He loved it.

I am 50 now but started wearing Rolex at 21. Outside of other watch guys I can count on one hand the number of times anyone has commented on any of my watches.

I've had it a few times my mates joking asking if it's real.

Also had one instance of an idiot say that my SS Daytona was fake because 'it didn't look right'

Only had it happen twice and they didn't ask the cost. Both times it was women at happy hour. I politely said yes and moved on.

When I bought my second 9630 in the mid 90's and visited Rolex Ad's it never failed and they would always ask: nice watch, what is that?

Most folk do not notice watches, unless they are like us here. I have been wearing one Rolex or another for close to 25 years. Never had anyone ask me those questions.

No one has ever asked me this question, ever.

I do not expect that anyone ever will. If someone wants to know what something costs, there is this search engine called Google.

Been wearing a Rolex since 2003 and was never asked those questions. I've had one or two nice watch comments and nothing else. The general public has no clue what a Rolex looks like or what it cost other than they think it's expensive.

The correct answer would be, "Completely real".

Usually tell them, is this the real life? Or is this just fantasy?

They always leave you alone after that

Most folks (perhaps 95% of them) are way too busy going about their daily business to take notice or acknowledge someone's watch brand/model (with the possible exception of a well-intentioned WIS who happens to be wearing the same one).

On the other hand, potential thieves and (calculating bimbos/gold-diggers) always seem to have a Rolex radar.

And on yet the other hand, the female in question could also be a WIS (as opposed to a "calculating bimbo/gold-digger")..in which case she's just giving you a compliment (as I've done on occasion when spotting nice timepieces in the wild).

Possibly. But this kind of watch-related 'compliment' usually occurs only in the rarest of instances.

I'll be sure to keep my compliments to myself, then, if this is the prevailing wisdom. Must be at least a dozen men out there over the past few years who have me pegged as a bimbo/gold-digger, who knew?

Never mind him, has happened to me many times.

Depending on where in FL you are you could have been one of them.
