INCOMING......A GMT COKE with a story to tell.

So today I picked up my GMT Coke from RSC after a full service, replacement dial, hands, bezel insert and crown.

She's looking great, but boy does this watch have a story attached to it.

If you wanna know what happened, you'll need to read the following thread....

Nice watch and congrats. Could you please TLDR that story ending for me?? I read the initial post about how it was stolen and you were awaiting a refund but I'm too lazy to read the entire thread for a conclusion.

Go to the near bottom of page 3 of the thread for the final update.

I'm also too lazy to hammer it all out again here.

TLDR: Rolex flagged watch as stolen so OP and the seller had to jump through a bunch of hoops to get their money back and figure out what the problem was. Took several weeks, but Rolex said "Um...our bad. Watch isn't stolen." Op got to keep the watch, but had to jump through all the same hoops because he had police reports, credit card claims, paypal claims, etc stating he bought stolen goods. In the end, he got all the claims and police reports dropped and kept the watch.

I'm curious why new dial and hands were needed for a K serial?

Because the old dial had got scratched where the crystal had shattered and the second hand had swept it all round the dial before the watch was stopped.

The hands also showed evidence of marks, so best option was to replace the lot.

And yes, I'll get some pics of the chamfers soon.

Congratulations on ending up with a great looking watch but man, what a story! That makes me NOT want to send any of my pre-owned watches to RSC.

I just read your prior thread and am thrilled to learn that your situation has been resolved and your watch has been serviced and returned. It looks brand new and I'm sure will be a lifelong keeper.
As others have said, Rolex should have compensated you somehow, in some way, to soften the blow of your wasted time and money, and the aggravation they caused by flagging your watch as stolen property. It's disappointing to learn that they didn't.
In the end, your watch has a story that few, if any, can claim.
Enjoy it!

Great looking GMT, what a story though! Rolex should have compensated you with something for your troubles. I'm sure you'll keep all the correspondence just in case you need it at your next service!
