Aluminum bezel pitting

Noticed what I think is some pitting on my LV today. Is this to be expected in a 12yr old daily wear piece that sees regular water exposure? I tried searching but couldn't find much info on the subject. The defect at the 3 minute marker is enough to catch the end of a toothpick.

Specifically, how fast does this kind of wear progress to complete failure of the insert? This is a 100% keeper for me but was curious as to how fast this will progress. Thanks in advance all!!

According to a Rolex watchmaker:

Rolex green lunnette / bezel you can not ordered separately.
The watch should be sent to Rolex Switzerland.

I'm not 100% sure but it sounds Logical, else everyone gets a green bezel on his black Submariner.

Probably a small ding caused by an impact that glanced off the sapphire and not a long term problem.

Its Galvanic corrosion. You put steel, aluminium and salt water together and you will get pitting/corrosion particularly if the surface finish is compromised. The insert is replaceable but is on exchange only through an RSC.

Yours looks like a flat four bezel insert, not sure you would get the same in replacement from RSC. You may just want to live with it, I would.

Thanks guys. Indeed, as it is a Flat 4, I wasn't looking to replace it but gauge how it will age over time, as so much of the value of the arch is tied to the bezel. Ended up sourcing a used one to use on a daily basis and probably exchange for a brand new one come service time. Thanks again!!
