DavidSW 'Unworn' Condition

Hi All! Long-time lurker, first time poster. I'm in the market for my first Rolex and have been eyeing the 116610. At first I was in love with the clean look of the 114060, but have since been leaning toward the date, as this watch will be my daily beater. I have seen such glowing reviews of trusted seller David. I was checking out his website recently and saw the Submariner Date listed as unworn condition/plastics in place. I was curious if anyone knew if this was essentially new condition. I was hoping my first piece would be one that hadn't been on display and tried on by perspective buyers if possible.

Thanks!

Vin

Hard to know a watches history but I am sure you could ask David for details on the particular watch.

If you want a truly unworn untouched condition watch you would need to go to the dealer and get one in the plastc Rolex coffin. My unworn condition watch came with some stickers missing and also had marks from the bracelet being removed was also not the watch in the picture. Great service and its a great watch but had I known it wasnt going to be "MINT" I wouldnt have paid what I paid and purchased for possibly less elsewhere.

That doesn't sound like great service to me. It sounds pretty deceptive and sloppy. I hope you don't recommend him to others.

Who was the seller for that watch? I had a similar experience. Traded for a new DJ and it came with some but not all of the stickers. It had been worn because the bracelet stickers had some marks. Still happy but would have haggled more aggressively. Essentially gave up too much in trade for a watch that watch.

DSW. The watch is great but I paid top dollar secondary market because I thought I was going to get a perfect unworn watch. I looked at many and debated before purchasing a "new" stickered watch because I didnt want any issues. I know for next time to most definitely inquire about the watch I will be purchasing. Im ok with my watch also but I had MANY options potentially better and most definitely could have negotiated a better price for a watch in the same condition as the one I recieved.

Wait....the bracelet stickers had some "marks"...

So above being a minty watch, now there has to be minty stickers too?

So there are varying grades of sticker condition?

Actually yes. You can tell based on the condition of the Bracelet clasp sticker whether it was worn. In my case it was very clearly worn for a period of time with the stickers on the clasp still in place. Big enough of a deal to send back, no but not in unworn condition.

You can and should contact david directly for a rock solid answer. Ask him about the AD origination and warranty status. As others have said, it's likely new, but "new" to me means active warranty, that might not be the case here, so it's worth reaching out.

"unworn condition/plastics in place" means it's indistinguishable condition from new. Likely a watch that was purchased and worn very very sparingly, if at all, and the owner hadn't removed the stickers. (I know, it happens, just read a few of the many threads on the topic ) A "safe queen" if you will.

It's a little different than BNIB (brand new in box), but without extreme magnification it would have the same overall appearance.

Sellers like DavidSW are much more reliable in this respect that other private sellers who throw terms like "mint", "nos condition", etc which can be inherently rather subjective if not outright misleading.

Ask him, I'm sure he'll be happy to allay any reservations you may have. He's an honest guy and has a stellar reputation.

"Essentially new condition", yes, but I wouldn't assume the rest of this statement without confirming with David.

I've had several transactions with David, and I ditto those who say just contact him and ask. You'll get a straight answer, one you can rely on.

David is 100% straight up. He will gladly communicate quickly and accurately with any questions you have about a particular watch. I've done more than one deal with him and will do more in the future.

I always interpreted David's "unworn" description as new like you would get from an AD, even most times with the warranty card being blank.

Now whether that watch has been tried on may be difficult to know. As was said before if you are that OCD about it the only way to guarantee it's never touched another wrist other than yours is to get it straight from the AD in a coffin. I'd rather have a few thousand in my pocket instead.
